and now just a small comment from me. No nothing will change. Buffalo supports us by installing the firmware (with some modifications) as factory default. beside this buffalo has no control about the project or the company. we are working together to bring some new products on the market in future.
we will never shut down the other dd-wrt releases. we are just happy to bring it now directly into stores.

to summarize
1. Buffalo will support the OpenSource community in this way and has a strong interest in it. (since it surelly increase sales at least)
2. DD-WRT will stay as it is and will be developed in future as well
3. the Buffalo firmwares are identical to DD-WRT, except that the txpower cannot be overriden and some default values are changed.
4. Even the Buffalo firmware, contains still the DD-WRT label which shows that Buffalo likes us

Shocked

"CSIRO's lawsuits are against the entire wireless LAN industry and could affect the supply of wireless LAN products by any manufacturer, not just Buffalo."

Any news about when will this DD router hit the stores?

Will the built-in DD-WRT include Chillispot and the Sputnik option?

The router is already orderable for Buffalo distributors. But it's not meant for retail sales, rather for telcos and business customers. It has Sputnik inside.

Congrats to Brainslayer and the rest of the team on this new found success. I think it speaks volumes that a mainstream manufacturer chose DD-WRT instead of using their own release. I have used DD-WRT on both my WRT54G and now my 350N. I think it is so much better than stock firmware. Hopefully Linksys smartens up as well and looks here for their own firmware. Since I live in Canada, and have always used and recommended Linksys products, that's the router of my choice....even though I know many will say there is better out there. I hope this partnership works out well for DD-WRT and also that this CSIRO lawsuit can be settled without any major impacts to wireless as a whole.

Again, congrats to Brainslayer and everyone who contributes to DD-WRT. Your hard work is appreciated by many of us.

Congratulations BrainSlayer...

By the way, is there any chance that we'll see an 'AOSS-enabled' DD-WRT?

@confused_user:

the URL you pointed to, www.buffalotech.com, is the US-Website. If you would like to choose the European website www.buffalo-technology.com you would see a different situation as in US Wink
