WRT54G v7 (also called CDFE/Atheros) is very unique Linksys's release. It's unknown CPU speed. Even Linksys.com website does not recognize this product ..until this day, there's no download link about the firmware update. We can only seen this version: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8.

And the other bad news is DD-WRT won't support this WRT54G v7, we must wait (no deadline) or support DD-WRT to release firmware for this unique hardware.

We can see WRT54G v7 had many trouble and security hole, for example: ISP admin can joke me by sending a small packet to make this WRT54G v7 hang. And I must restart it (plug-uplug the power cord). I also hear another trouble issue with BitTorrent Client. And there's an issue trouble if it used as a Repeater.

Strange product. People newbie in the world (like me) are very dificult to find the treasure of this WRT54G v7 firmware update. If someone also have this WRT54G v7 please don't be sad. Here's the direct from Linksys UK Firmware Version v7.00.4

if this router would have 16 mb ram, a port would be very easy. but it has just 8 and the atheros wireless driver needs more.

Lol, i'm sad... got a damn v7 in the box... Complete different chipset -_-

Well, i'm off to the shops tommorow to exchange it for a 150n. fingers crossed i get a good ol' 1.0 ... otherwise i might have problems, yet again, using DDWRT ... Y_Y

I herd people who have it working on v1.1 ... well, i guess it's all up to the fates.

ADD: v7 dosn't handel BT or P2P well at all... 1 person use BT.. boom, whole network drops packets and gets 75% connections timeouts... (and this person is only downloading 2 things)

I've returned the WRT54G v7 today & swapped it for a WRT54GL v1.1 and already flashed with DD-WRT v23 SP2 STD but not very steady so will try v24 SP3 Wink

What i'm know about WRT54G hardware version 7 are needed to flash with latest firmware, when it released with the latest hardware version, even the reseller are getting doomed cause of the weakling firmware.

so far tested with 7.00.4 firmware version are stable.

Sometimes the latest firmware are available at UK region at first
so i will go there to check the firmware

I think BrainSlayer easily answered "will it ever be supported" in post no. 2.

As he said. The router only has 8MB of RAM and the Atheros driver needs more than that. So no, unless someone can rewrite the entire driver matrix.

pfffffff.. can't you people read as already told twice in this little thread, THERE WIL NEVER BE a solution.... The device has only 8 MB ram while the driver for the Atheros wireless needs more then 8 MB.. so again, NO... IT WILL NEVER BE SUPPORTED...

Again... IT WILL NEVER BE...

Also see the "Supported Hardware" tab on the mainpage... seems to be difficult to find this...
