Netgear R6350
DD-WRT v3.0-r49599 std (07/30/22)
Gateway mode

I have I believe a very simple VLAN requirement... but despite a lot of searching I've been unable to find a clear answer. Hopefully this is the correct forum for such a basic question!

I don't use VLANs on my internal network and don't plan to. Currently the "Switch Config" tab shows what I believe is the default setting for my router: the WAN port is in VLAN 2, and ports 1, 2, 3 4 are in VLAN1. All the ports, WAN, 1, 2, 3, 4 are marked as *untagged* ... tagged checkbox is unchecked!

My new Internet Service Provider tags all traffic arriving on the WAN port with VLAN 40 and requires all traffic leaving on the WAN port to be tagged with VLAN 40.

How do I "strip" the VLAN tag 40 from the *incoming" traffic from the ISP, and "add" VLAN tag 40 to all *outgoing* traffic? (Not sure I'm using the correct terminology but hopefully this makes sense).

Is it as simple as changing VLAN 2 in "switch config" to VLAN 40 and checking the "tagged" check box for the WAN port?

Many thanks

Wow...how did I not find that! Embarassed Thank-you for your super prompt reply.

To double check: in my case I don't have a CPUPORT, so I just change VLAN 2 to 40, and click on the "tagged" checkbox below the WAN port?

Correct but do not forget the second step (underside of the picture) to set the Wan Port Assignment to vlan40 this is on the Networking tab.

Note that you have to Save and Apply first and it can take a minute before vlan40 is visible in the drop down box.
Sometimes you even need to reboot first

If you use PPPoE you should update the router.

It is possible that it does not work properly with your old build.
There were some PPPoE interface fixes after r49599

If it works with the old build - then all good

Topic moved to Ralink since device is MediaTek SoC, not Broadcom.
