Router/Version: TP-Link TL-WR841ND v11
Update method: WebUpgrade
File/Kernel: tl-wr841nd-webflash.bin_r54604 std / Linux 3.18.140-d6 #188346 Tue Dec 26 07:48:04 +06 2023 mips
Previous/Reset: r54569 / no
Mode/Status: AP wired and wireless / Up and running for 1:27 hours
Issues/Errors: Nothing significant
The fact is that the router connected to the Internet (to the Internet provider). And it reports an error, the orange WAN indicator flashes (the icon in the form of a planet). Internet is working, I just think it's a glitch

Router/Version: Netgear R7800 x 3
File/Kernel: DD-WRT v3.0-r54604 std (12/26/23)
Previous/Reset: DD-WRT v3.0-r54569 std (12/21/23), no reset this time
Mode/Status: Gateway (SFE disabled), Access Point (VANILLA firmware,2.4GHz, 5GHZ, WPA2/WPA3, 802.11r), IPV6 (DHCP6 w/ prefix delegation), Entware, DOT via SmartDNS/DNSMasq, OpenVPN server, Wireguard Server, performance govenor + 2 wired access points (VANILLA firmware,2.4GHz, 5GHZ, WPA2/WPA3, 802.11r), performance govenor
Issues/Errors:
Up 36 hours. USB working properly for Entware and "jffs" partitions. Wireguard and OpenVPN servers working as expected and throughput sufficient to open video files on network shares. Speed (tested via nPerf.com) is close to or greater than what my ISP advertizes, both wired and wireless. SFE still disabled.
Adding to @computerperson's observation about the Internet light on the R7800, I can confirm that the WAN light stays lit when I pull the cable. However, if WAN is disabled, the light does not come on. Even when I change WAN from disabled to DHCP on one of my APs and reboot, the light does not come on. It seems that if the WAN was connected and gets dropped, the light stays, but if WAN isn't connected at start, the light doesn't come on.

Mode: Gateway, SFE disabled, 2.4G and 5G wifi (FW: DD-WRT), Wireguard for external access, WAN to 4G Bridge (DHCP Client), Keep Alive reboot 6:02 in the morning
Reset: No
Status: Installed yesterday, OK.
Same issue on the R7800. its been like that for months now. 3 VLANs and SFE enabled.

Actually, it's been years since that has worked. I am on spectrum cable and if I pull power plug on modem, disconnect the cable and/or the ethernet cable it does not notice line is disconnected, no changes to the light.
There are other issues related to this. When upgrading firmware, the provider changes the assigned DHPC address when it sees the firmware change after reboot the router does not act on the changed address, it keeps previous cached addresses (ipv4 & ipv6). It requires multiple reboots including manually switching from Auto DHCP to DHCP Auth on the setup screen to effectively erase all saved ipv4 & ipv6 in whatever cache it keeps it during reboots. If reboot is fast enough it will latch on to the old assigned address. But in either case 24 hours to the second the router loses internet access (due to forced DHCP address change) and requires multiple reboots as described above to regain internet access; I can duplicate this on at least the last two years of firmware upgrades. Once completed no issues on keeping assigned IP addresses until new firmware upgrade is done, router uptime is 48 days with r53396. I don't think the releasing of both IPv4 & IPv6 code is working correctly internally like when the "release or renew" button from the WAN screen doesn't release the IPv6 and then things break. My two cents.

pandemonium420 I've seen this behavior and in my case it was not due to the router side, but more likely the ISP side...in my case dynamic DHCP was working, but after update i had to turn off the router for 3-5 min so, the stupid switch (ISP side) to clear/rebuild the DHCP table (mac addresses & ip) and assign a new address to my device..it was happening with PPPoE too...had to turn off the DSL modem and wait..
I also have to admit that, there are differences and some odd behavior on DHCP versions among different vendors...where i have to force IP as DHCP is never assigning an address otherwise...
So...there is no happy medium, but gimmicks _________________ Atheros
