On my XR500 router running the latest DD-WRT builds, currently on 55179, I have been seeing error messages in the syslog as per the title.
The full syslog error message is:
Feb 25 10:52:48 xr500.arnet hostapd: wlan0: IEEE 802.11 parse vendor failed (id=221 elen=5)
As a search query I formulated as follows:
IEEE 802.11 AND parse AND vendor AND failed
Not too much turned up, and I got none the wiser.
I haven't noticed any big problems with my LAN except occasional very slow loading of news sites on my new iPhone 13 mini. This sometimes also results in an interruption of the data flow to an internet radio (with the obvious effect).
However, Internet speed tests always show the same, to be expected, results, some 90+ Mb/s down and 20+ Mb/s up on a cable network.
The router has been set for QoS based on the MAC code of the internet radio, but apparently that doesn't prevent the effect described above.
The id= and elen= values seem to always be the same.
How can I connect this error message to a particular device?
Does it point to a real problem or should I ignore it?
Another type of parse failure message appears as well:
Feb 25 09:34:57 xr500.arnet hostapd: wlan1: IEEE 802.11 IEEE 802.11 element (156) parse failed @150 |
