Another case of nobody reporting on the device or similar devices, so all we know is latest is advised to be flashed. It takes the a community effort of feedback on supported devices.

"How does the mega-e3000.bin differ from dd-wrt.v24-55109_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega.bin?"

i.e. what's the difference between the model number specific build and the generic build that doesn't specify a model number?

The "trailed build" (mega-e3000.bin) has a device-specific header in the file and is usually a safe bet, but both files should be able to be flashed without incident from previous version of DD-WRT. This is not new news...

@SunSkyPi
Can you confirm you mean this build
https://ftp.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2024/01-29-2024-r55033/broadcom_K3X/dd-wrt.v24-55033_NEWD-2_K3.x_mega-e3000.bin

or should I be using the `nv64k` build instead?

I'm trying to upgrade from an old build also and I'm hoping for a good recommendation.

Currently on
Code:
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/27.13) mega - build 21676
Linux 3.9.4 #125 Mon May 27 10:19:14 CEST 2013 mips

EDIT: I went with the linked build and it seems to be working fine.
Code:
DD-WRT v3.0-r550009 (01/23/24)
Linux 4.4.302-st48 #28271 Tue Jan 23 05:57:34 +06 2024 mips

I do not see the `iPhone Tethering` option on the WAN setup page though so I am a bit disappointed....

As I mentioned in my last post I'm working on a E3000 - I was actually hoping to build this into a 'travel router' of sorts.

My 2 main priorities are:
1 - Hotel WiFi (i.e.: connect to captive portal and serve a new WiFi network/subnet)
2 - iPhone tethering would be awesome

When I was on the super new build (DD-WRT v3.0-r55009 (01/23/24)) I didn't see either the iPhone tethering WAN Connection Type option OR the 'client' wireless modes....

Have these things been taken out? Is there additional work to turn them/enable them somehow?

Client wireless modes are now 'Station'. Don't know why iPhone Tethering is gone from the K3X builds, could've sworn I saw it on my E4200 running K3X last time I had it out.

I tried going to a k26 build and that doesn't have it either.... I wonder how the code is written like maybe there is some condition that the firmware thinks this router doesn't meet? It does have a USB port and I have the USB core services thing turned on.... but maybe the firmware doesn't think this router has the necessary hardware or something....

I also tried getting the 'station' mode stuff working but didn't have any luck yet. I found this page of instructions
https://wiki.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Station_Mode

and I have switched the Radio Mode to 'Station' and set the SSID as directed, but I don't have any controls for "Wireless Security" as the instructions indicate...

Clear browser cache or use portable browser / separate browser in private browsing mode with no extensions or add-ons loaded. I do not believe current releases are that broken, but nothing would surprise me. I'm not digging through storage for a similar device to investigate, sorry.
