My Asus RT-AC68U B1 has happily been on DD-WRT v3.0-r45000 std (12/14/20) for a while and looks like it's been up for over 2 years serving my home network. I looked to see if there's a more recent build from the router database and the firmware listed there is older than r45000 I currently have.
Would it be recommended to flash a newer build linked in this forum? I see many current newer builds with download link including a folder for RT-AC68U such as (not sure if B1 is compatible with all these builds) https://download1.dd-wrt.com/dd-wrtv2/downloads/betas/2024/02-27-2024-r55209/asus-rt-ac68u/. How would I go about finding the most recent compatible build?
Apologies--I had read the wiki and it links to the download folder I linked in my original post. My main questions are:
a) from the wiki page it is not clear to me if the firmware under ./02-27-2024-r55209/asus-rt-ac68u/ is compatible with my version of RT-AC68U (B1). How can I confirm that it is?
b) I don't have any issues with the firmware version that I've been on (DD-WRT v3.0-r45000 std (12/14/20)). Is it recommended to upgrade firmware for improved security etc or can I just happily stay on with what I have?
Click on "Search", enter RT-AC68U, select "Forum: Broadcom SoC based Hardware", select "Category: DD-WRT(English)", select "Posts", then click "Search".

The most recent builds works fine on your router. Since you are using a very old build you should reset (from command line) and restore all your settings manually _________________ Netgear R7000 on Build 55109

Have 2 RT-AC68U one is ver A2 and C1.
Recently had r54582,r55109 and few others trying to get DoT working..Unable to on this unit..however the two builds listed here, set up fine with multiple vlans and both had good wlan..
Vlans changed at some point and the cpu port must be set on all, unlike the older version where the cpu port was on the main vlan. a pita learning curve but they were solid.
