Is this the same as the Netgear R6700 v2?

the R6700AX expects an .img file, same file type as the v2.

Thought I would ask before bricking my router.

No, this is not the same device and no AX routers are supported - none at the moment

Broadcom device. Will never see DD-WRT support.

Also, the R6700, and R6700v3 are Broadcom, v2 is MediaTek. You'd be asking for a brick.
