Linux 2.6.x folders aren't for x86 images. Are you compiling on an x86 machine? Are you using the correct toolchain? Keep in mind that the build system isn't manipulated this way and that files have moved over the years. The other confusing point to me is that the topic says x86, but you are building broadcom and mips ... so it sounds like you just downloaded and were trying to compile. You have to have the cross compiler (ie the tool chains)
