Hi Brainslayer do you think this modem can be supported by ANY firmware writer such as yourself? it runs Linux and Jungo will supply the code for 15.00us. THANK YOU for your valuable time. so far there are only 2 versions of this modem and they come with both either a Ralink or an Atheros mini-pci card.

here is some info from another source / forum

Yes it would be nice, so many people with fios are stuck with that piece of shit!
I am lucky, I got my FIOS service just before they went to the new policy of not enabling ethernet for new installs. If I would have ended up being stuck with that actiontech, I would have canceled my 30 meg service and went back to my shitty 5 meg service with Cox. Thank God for DDWRT and a WHR-G125!!!!!!!!

I hope you are wrong I've read inDSLreports.com fios forum that they will enable the ethernet, i called and asked to have that on or no deal

UPDATE:I had FIOS service installed 2 weeks ago and the TECH showed me how they turn on the ethernet port from their laptop. so mine is on ethernet, I will let you know when I get TV service in February if anything changes in relation to ethernet, but some people that have it say they still have the ethernet port active. so I will let you know.

bump. This is also a cross-post from here: http://forum.openwrt.org/viewtopic.php?pid=61342 which has more information and unit images on the same subject.

I have a MI424WR and just updated to Verizon's latest MI424WR firmware here: http://www2.verizon.net/micro/actiontec/actiontec.asp . The new firmware has more utilities built into the flash and a bit more information about how-it-works. I find the console=ttyS0,115200 particularly interesting. I remember hearing someone express that it has a serial plug on the board. I've not plugged in, but it might give pre-kernel debug output.

It would be nice to get support for NFS or CIFS or something to mount external filesystems with more goodies on it, perhaps a full-blown XScale distro (if such a thing exists).

The processor is an IXP4xx, which is supported by OpenWRT for devices such as Gateway 7001, and FreecomFSG3.

Since its a simple RT2500 chip and we already have XScale 42x support, I would think this trivial if Kendin switch/ethernet is supported. We just need to figure out how to package the firmware for update...

More details below. Ideas ... ?

we are not openwrt...u can can get your device back Cool
watch the memberlist at the top. he the first man in line.....why Question Wink
the only thin is that u have to ship it to germany. if you are outside th EU it is easier and cheaper if someone who is inside would provide a device.
