After doing a 30-30-30 reset I brought my
DD-WRT v24 RC-7 (04/13/0Cool std
(SVN revision 9414)

Router back up as an unbridged repeater with a bridged virtual interface.

even thou I have Disable broadcast checked it still apears in my windows chooser, even after removing it and re-scanning.

Any ideas or further information needed?

Does it work for others?

What is the point of disabling it? Just enable WPA security with a strong passphrase, and be done with it.

I have had no problems disabling it(9433) or any previous builds.

But I have to agree, what is the point of it?

Mine I had to disable the 2nd SSID (using 2 SSID) broadcast because I use it for point to point. Its very annoying to see 2 SSID's which is you only need 1 for the public.

So thats my reason and yes it works on mine using RC7 BS9433.

anthonymo,

Did you try rebooting your PC? maybe it'll go away then

or perhaps it's just an issue with repeater modes. I seem to remember reading about something like this before.

seems to be an issue for repeater mode.
here:
-in ap ssid can be hidden
-in repeater mode ssid is always visible (wl0_corerev=7))

I'm using it in that build, and I see it only because the profile is configured on my laptop. It shows as unknown in the wireless map (IBM thinkpad software).

I find Disable SSID broken on RC7 build 9433 on Buffalo WHR-G54S. This used to work, but is now broken. Hopefully the developers will fix what they broke.

I believe you need to post this bug in the Bugtracker for quick response.

I just tested the disable SSID setting using RC7 build 9433 on my WTR54GS and it seems to work for me. At first it was still showing up as it seemed to be somehow cached. After deleting the profile on my laptop, shutting down the laptop and starting it back up, the SSID showed up as unknown, I could tell it was the right device by the MAC address.

yes im on rc7, i was using rc5 and it works the same on both, somethings you might consider, when you set up windows to connect to a hidden ssid, it WILL show the name, so it wont appear to be hidden to YOU only cause youve set it up already, if you didnt set it up on windows then it will not come up at all, on other softwares it will just come up blank
