Hi. Can something be done with this model ? CPU is a IXP420BB, there's 2 X Nanya NT5SV8M16DS-6K (8MB, i think..) and a 4MB Macronix 29LV320CBTC-90G flash chip. The mini-pci network adapter is a Atheros based card, the chip says AR5416-AC1E on it.

Is there anything to do with that unit ? Out of the box, the firmware is really bad.

I attached a picture of it. It seems to have jtag on board, i can remove the flash and read it offboard if it can help in any way. Thanks for any ideas, cheebster.

Ok. I've built the following circuit :

http://www.scienceprog.com/wp-content/uploads/2006i/RS232_adapter/RS232_adapter_circuit.png

Now, from these 2 pages:

http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Hardware/Belkin/F5D8231-4

http://wiki.openwrt.org/OpenWrtDocs/Hardware/Airlink101/AR525W

I understand this router i have is similar to some other routers, having the same board.

I see :

Board view, component side:

[ ] [RX ] [ ] [ ] [TX ] <
[GND] [GND] [Vcc] [Vcc]

So that's the 9 pin header on the board. Do i connect all the VCC from the circuit i've built together, and to one of the 2 VCC points on board, i dont need any external VCC source ?

I'm even unsure which is which on the circuit i've built. T2IN = TX and R1OUT = RX ?

To your earlier question Sash, it says the router runs UBOOT as a bootloader. Thanks, cheebster

I think i got it figured up to some point.

But, i get crap in the hypertrm. I tried many settings, i get weird ascii junk, but i can see the end of the boot sequence, i think...

þ.0 dBm | 36mb OFDM 16.0 dBm | 48mb OFDM 16.0 dBm | 54mb OFDM ennaReduction
: 0, 2xMaxRegulatory: 40, 2xPowerLimit: 60
2xMaxPowerLevel: 32 (HT40)
TPC Enabled 1 1 0
Force rf_p þÀü

Looks like actual info to me. What can cause such problems ? If any one has a clue for me. I think my board is properly wired. I use a non-null cable to pc, a standard serial one.

Thanks ! cheebster.

Hi,

I've got one of these routers too; mine is version 5000 and it doesn't look like the picture in the first post... Sad

I'm trying to reverse engineer the firmware of this thing; here's what I've found:

http://lists.openwrt.org/pipermail/openwrt-users/2008-June/000374.html

I also have some pictures of the board:

http://lists.openwrt.org/pipermail/openwrt-users/2008-May/000324.html

If somebody knows about the problem mentioned in the first link, please share your info Smile

Thanks.
