Hello all,

Would anyone know if there is a DD-WRT firmware available for the ASUS WL-330gE?

Many thanks,

Just bought one of these things. The FCC ID on the bottom of it is MSQWL330GE.

If this tiny thing can run DD-WRT I'd be amazed. It's the size of a deck of cards!

Sweet, it's capable. Now the question is, how do we flash it? I wonder if it's the same type of thing as flashing the WL500gP?

How does one even go about figuring something like that out?

EDIT: Checked out the supported devices page, looks to have the same hardware as the WL520GU. Guess I'll give it a shot. Whats the worst that can happen, it's still under warranty.

Heh, I think it's too light to be useful as a paperweight.

After my initial hubris, I've decided against trying to do it, at least for now. I'm using it currently as an access point in my hotel room, since the hotel's wifi antenna is weak, and unencrypted. After reading the wiki article on how to configure dd-wrt as an AP (http://dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Wireless_Access_Point) It appears I'd have to write a script for the AP to get it's IP via DHCP. Asus' firmware made this setup pretty easy.

As much as I'd like to have a common interface for all my routers (I've got an Asus WL500gP as well), if this is the case, I don't want to go through the hassle. I tried to brainstorm what else I'd like to do with the thing that dd-wrt could offer, and I couldn't come up with anything.

Although, now that I think about it, I think the WAN port's IP may be static, since to administrate it, I've got to go to 192.168.1.220, and my IP address thats handed to me by the hotel is not in the 192.168 range. If that's the case, I assume setting up DD-WRT as an AP wouldn't require that startup script. But now, we're getting beyond the scope of my knowlege of these things.

Yes, I have the files. Did you restore to factory defaults after upgrade? What is working and what is not working? Is it detected as Asus-wl330ge ??
