Does DD-WRT have a pledge page or something of that nature?

I would be willing to donate a few dollars toward the purchase of the D-Link DIR-615. If we all chipped in what we could, then Sash or whoever could buy one then.

Would be a good way for us to add support to these routers without having to purchase one, ship it, etc or without having to come up with all of the money required for the team to buy the router.

The routers that people commonly ask about could be added to the Pledge Page. Post a picture of the router and a link to donate whatever you can. When the goal/price of a new router is met, the team could use the money to purchase one of the devices.

Maybe someone could setup a much simpler version of what they do on http://www.actblue.com/page/orangetoblue

Maybe it is a bad idea, but I think that it could work and help us move along toward greater compatibility. Smile

It's a good idea. Contact brainslayer and suggest it. It is also a good idea to donate to the development of dd-wrt. There is a donate button on the main page of this site, and also in the dd-wrt webgui.

I would sure like to see this router supported, if it can be done.

This refers to the off topic discussion to clarify something raised by the OP, but I take it that the 615 is still a possibility?

I will try to get you a picture of the label on the bottom of the router in the next few days, if someone doesn't post one before I can get to it.

Would that give you the information that you need?

I checked at FCC and looked at the internal photos:
https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=725906&fcc_id=%27KA2DIR615B2%27

It seems there are both a Ubicom chip(IP5090U) AND an Atheros chip inside (right beside the electromagnetic shielding, can't tell which model).

What does that mean? It is not supported by Linux then?

Edit:
More info on the router:
http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/content/view/30349/187/1/3/
http://bsdimp.blogspot.com/2008/03/d-link-dir-515-b2-hardware.html
Adding a serial port for playing with it:
http://bsdimp.blogspot.com/2008/06/adding-serial-port-to-d-link-dir-615.html

So, looks like there's little hope for my router so far.. better buy myself an Asus WL500gp again instead:)

If it's any gauge, I downloaded the firmware for all three models. The BIN for the A model is 6MB, and for the C is 3.5MB.

The BIN for the B models is just over 1MB. Can we assume this is a limitation of a smaller 2MB flash, necessitating a stripped down firmware?

Or can you glean the flash size from the photos?

TIA.

FYI, looking at the GPL software for the Trendnet TEW-652BRP, I found the following comment in some of the change notes.

Detail :
1.ReleaseNote.txt
2.TEW-652BRP(DIR-615_C1)_ReleaseNote.doc
3.version.c

I downloaded the DLINK DIR-615 C1 latest firmware and the .BIN file is the same size as the TEW-652BRP. Maybe this weekend I will try flashing the the DIR-615 C1 fw onto the Trendnet TEW-652BRP. It would be awesome if we could get dd-wrt supported on both of these routers with the AR9130 chip...

bkmartin, come to find out the firmware on the TRENDnet TEW-652BRP and the DLink DIR-615_C1 is interchangeable with a little modification: http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=236983

You should be able to get telnet access to the router by using this firmware (build 13): http://www.bitsum.com/tew632brp.php

You may have to use a hex editor to modify the hardware ID at the end of the file to "AP81-AR9130-RT-070614-02"

Edit: It should be the same hardware that's listed here http://wiki.x-wrt.org/index.php/Trendnet_TEW-632BRP
