Well, now I see, thanks.
They're really different after reset to defaults.

Hi guys,

I am a newbie using dd-wrt. Will any version of these releases work on my WRT54GSv7?

I do want to use the SSH service and don't want to brick my router. I searched the forum but didn't find my answer.

Thanks!

We don't have 128k cfe for gsv7 yet. Ask Tornado to make one.

I flashed my WRT54G V5.0 to this version and I'm getting major instability. Any ssh connection causes 100% cpu and then router freezes. Also freeses after about 5 minutes of web browsing. 1 computer, wired connection.

Here are the steps I took to get here:
1. Flash to latest linksys firmware
2. Flash vxworks_prep then VXworks Killer
3. Flash dd-wrt micro
4. compress cfe
5. Flash dd-wrt micro plus ssh, the one from this thread.
I did 30/30/30 between each step but did not test performance until I was done with all steps.

Any recommendations?
Thanks.

Yeah...the original ssh build was a bit unstable.

Try this one.

Just flashed, did "Factory Reset" form web gui before and after the flash. As soon as I entered all my settings and rebooted something happened to it. I can ping it but no web, ssh, telnet or DHCP.
I'm doing this remotely, (not through this router,) so I can't physically reboot it. Rolling Eyes Will try again when I get home.

Hi,

Just want to make sure that procedure for version 8.0 as described in topic http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=36185 supports the micro + SSH version?

Thanks

yes you can put NEWD_micro-plus_ssh on the v8.0 after you compress the CFE.

GREAT!

Do you recommand latest version dd-wrt.v24-11779_NEWD_micro-plus_ssh.bin?

Is it more stable? PPPoE still supported?

I don't use a PPPoE connection (acutally, my connection type shows disable since I have my micro_plus_ssh build on a Repeater Bridge)

But...the 11296 is one of the most stable builds. 11779 is a bit rocky still. I have it running on my G2V1 unit and so far all is well...but this build has some UPnP issues and it does some strange things when you first try to flash it.

Sometimes I got "Upgrade Failed" messages and had to use JTAG to recover...but that was only on Std and Nokaid builds....so I guess it isn't relevant to your question.

I suggest you load up the 11296 build and stick with that for now.
