I am running Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (09/26/0Cool mini

I have 4 computers wired to the router, and another 4-6 computers connected wirelessly. Is it possible to limit the upload and download speeds of each wireless client? i.e. can I set it so they can only download at a speed somewhat lower than the maximum speed?

Not unless you buy a paid version of dd-wrt.

I wasn't even aware that there were pay versions. I'll look into it; thanks.

The ability to limiit bandwidth to individual users is one of the significant differences between the paid version (sold at the dd-wrt store) and the 'make a donation' version that most of us are using.

Thanks for the quick responses.

I have an Asus WL-520GU and have enabled USB printing by doing some various things and enabling a script when I set up the router with DD-WRT and it works fine, but I think I needed a special firmware version, not sure exactly but it was unique I think. Do the Pay versions of DD-WRT still enable USB printing?

You would be running Newd_mini_Usb.bin on that router. I am not sure how the store works. You are likely running one of the Beta builds. An official SP2 is likely right around the corner. I expect that you can get that when it comes out. But if you need one now, you should contact Brainslayer and see.

There is a free and VERY effective method to limit bandwidth up or down as well as connections on a client basis (wired or wireless).

Do a google for

#--------------------------------------------
#WRT54 Script Generator
#(C) 2006-2007 Robert "Robson" Mytkowski
#--------------------------------------------

This GUI based program generates the IP Tables scripts which you cut and paste into your firewall scripts window in DD-WRT.

It works GREAT

I'll look into that, thanks. I guess I was thinking of "mac priority" in the qos settings. Not sure exactly what that is, but it looked like it might help something by individual mac settings.

I stopped using the traditional QoS stuff a while ago. The built-in TCP-vegas congestion control workd real nice and I use the IP tables scripts from the generator for specific devices (my VoiP, etc) where priority is needed. I limit bandwidth on several devices as well as control priorities with this tool

Much better solution in my opinion

Did a Google search for the text below and received almost 3000 pages. It is not feasible to check each one of these links for one that has a download link for the WRT54G Script Generator. A direct link to download this script would be helpful.

I was able to setup some bandwidth limiting rules per IP (i.e. ip 192.168.1.2 can use max of 5kb for upload) using sp1 firmware. Basically I was using WRT54 Script Generator v1.02 by Robert "Robson" Mytkowski, generated scripts by this tool need to be modified as explained in http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=205559&highlight=#205559 and then they can be copied to a router script screen. I haven't tested if this approach works on sp2 yet.
