What ever you do don't pin short this can cause permanent damage. This router can be easily be recover by jtag if needed. If you pin short and damage the chip even a jtag can't help you so don't.
<I don't know what that even means, sorry.. like i said, TOTAL NOOB>
If you can't ping it or tftp then a jtag cable is your only option.
My power light is on, faintly.. VERY Faintly, and the Ethernet Port is ON, and SOLID, but nothing else, I also can't type in the 192.168.1.1 Into the browser, it doesn't go.
I am new to DD-WRT. I followed the instructions in the first page and worked great for me! I'm wondering what's the latest firmware applicable for WRT54GS v7. I'm a bit confused on what to download actually, and I don't want to brick or break my router. For info, The first 4 character of my router's serial = CGNB. I hope you guys could help me. Thank you in advance!
I have installed the V24sp1 with no problem and using the wrt54gsv7 on bridged mode with PPPoE to an ADSL modem D-link DSL-320t !
the problem was on p2p connections it gets disconnected and wont connect again so i read some where in forums that its better to let the modem do the connection job and free up some space in dd-wrt memory so i done that !
it seems to goes well ! dd-wrt gets the ip from modem and now i just get to try the internet !!!!!!!!
no network !!!
no ping on anywhere (4.2.2.4) ! it said : " reply from 192.168.1.1 (router ip) : destination NET unreachable "
and when i ping the modem (192.168.100.1):it said : " reply from 192.168.1.1 (router ip) : destination HOST unreachable "
here are my ip settings :
Modem dsl-320T Lan setup:
IP: 192.168.100.1
SubNetMask :255.255.255.0
DHCP active from 192.168.100.2 to 192.168.100.254
( I have dynamic ip adsl so i have to turn it On)
DD-WRT Lan:
Local ip address :192.168.1.1
SubNetMask :255.255.255.0
Gateway 0.0.0.0 ( i also tested with 192.168.100.1)
local dns : 0.0.0.0
dhcp active from 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.150
so when i connect the modem directly to my laptop
i get these :
ip :89.165....
subnet mask : 255.255.255.255
gateway : 192.168.100.1
when i connect the modem to wan port of dd-wrt i get these at the wan/status page :
ip :89.165....
subnet mask : 255.255.255.255
gateway : 192.168.100.1
i test the modem directly with my laptop, it works !
so i test every settings i think of but no luck !
any idea what should i do !????
please some one help me !!!!! _________________ پیچ و مهره | فروش پیچ و مهره | استاندارد پیچ و مهره
I managed to upgrade my WRT54GS V7 router using the following bin files from different tutorial guide. The file seems different than the one from the OP. Should I upgrade again?
Hey guys I've tried everything but JTAG cable because I don't have one. I think I can still revive it but I'm having a few problems.
Specs:
WRT54GS V7
Serial: CGNB
Situation:
I am now in management mode, when I type in 192.168.1.1 I get a white screen asking me to upgrade the firmware and that's it. I've tried vxworkskillerGSv7-v3, and even flashing it back to linksys was no luck. Then I tried tftp and somehow it can't get a connection to my router even though I can ping it.
Right now only the power is blinking slowly and nothing else it lit unless I plug in a network cable into one of the ports.

I just came across a wrt54gs v7 its bricked. I have tried the CFE.bin via jtag. I got all the leds to turn off and only the lan 1 to be lite. I got the power to light onc, but never again, I can not ping 192.168.1.1 ... so I have been searching for a wholeflash for the wrt43gs v7, with no luck. Could someone please upload one, thank you.

You should start a new thread post. I doubt anyone is going to upload a wholeflash as this this can take several hours to get. Your best bet is to make sure the cfe you are using is working if not get a different one that is. And if after flashing cfe and for some reason you still can't tftp the firmware, you can use the jtag to write the firmware for your router just rename it to kernel and flash the kernel to your router.

Has anyone actually gotten this to tftp under linux yet? Yes I've read the peacock thread. Yes I've tried both linux examples in the wiki. I did the vx works killer, only have the lan port lighting up, can ping the router with a return of ttl=100, but can't get tftp to fire up.
Just wanting to know if anyone actually got it to work. "UNDER LINUX" Thanks....
Edit: Well I finally gave up and borrowed my wives laptop and got it done with the linksys FTP client........... _________________ Buffalo WHR G54S * V24 SP2 1/1/09

Hello,
I noticed that you have a link to dd-wrt.v24_micro_wrt54gv8 , is this a version thats older then SP1 thats out there right now?
I tried the TFTP link and its not working. But I did manage to find the utility at a mirrored site.
I would like to ask a few questions, and proceed to flashing my wrtgs v7 on a day when Best Buy is open. Seems like its been 50/50 with the responses in here regarding bricks and non-bricks. It would be great to have a poll for the people that were either successful and unsuccessful on flashing to DD-Wrt with their router. I think if I follow your instructions to a T, it should be no problems.

Thanks again for putting this guide up!
Alright, I jumped the gun and went ahead with the update. It was a complete success! The only thing I recommend is that everyone follow the directions line by line, and be patient. The most nervous I got was when I did the TFTP and I had to wait maybe 2 minutes for the WLAN to come on. Just be patient and you will have a super router.
On a side note, if someone can get back to me regarding upgrading to the latest 24 SP1 in a safe manner that would be great! Im going to enjoy all my new features now..
