This is WIP atm. As changes need to be made, we'll modify them or add to them.

Don't complain if you don't get any reply (or a very short one from the Mod´s), if you don't follow these guidelines

General rules:
  • Releases prior the current stable aren't supported. So upgrade to the latest stable or recommended BETA release first. Or if you are told to "upgrade 1st" to the latest BETA (at your own risk!)
  • People expect you to work on your problem too. If it is obvious that you haven't done any work yourself, you might not get much assistance.
  • Our forum is divided into the different platforms and our corporate partners. Be sure to know the SoC vendor (Atheros, Broadcom, Ralink, etc) of your router. A good resource for this info is our Supported devices list in the wiki or google.
  • Read the announcements and any relevant stickies at the top of the forum. Also, there is a Router database (outdated use for reference) and a WIKI. Look in these resources first for your issue, especially if it is related to wanting to know HOW to do something.
  • Search first. There are over 70,000 threads (threads, not posts) in the Broadcom forum alone. Chances are, an answer you are looking for has already been dealt with.
  • If you are responding in someone else's thread with a similar problem to assist the OP, your comments are welcome. But if you intervene into someone else's thread before they have resolved their issue, expect that you might get no replies, or run the risk of having your post deleted. In short, don't hijack threads.
  • Build threads deal with test builds. Use the thread to report information, not to seek it. Specific issues or successes that you have found that relate to that build are welcome but do not ask for assistance with a configuration problem with your router.
  • You will receive no support on 3rd party instructions & software and for damaged/bricked routers resulting of it (e.g. optware packages).
  • Use proper spelling, no capslock, and make a reasonable attempt at punctuation and grammar when posting.
  • Screenshots keep the file size MB to a minimum, but make sure your pictures are clear and of good quality. You can alternatively use an image hosting site to link your pictures via the img tags.
  • Don´t ask when the next Beta will arrive. It´s there when it´s done!

Guidelines if your problem still exist. Open a new topic:

  • Post your request in the correct forum. Be sure to know the SoC vendor (Atheros, Broadcom, etc) of your router. A good resource for this info is our Supported devices list in the wiki or google.
  • Provide as much information as you can
  • Create a informative topic subject that briefly but concisely explains your problem.
  • State your build number, version and build date. Do not state "I am using the latest build".
  • State your router model, and version/revision in your post. If you are unsure of this information, also post your serial number and FCC number.
  • Clearly explain what you have done and what happened, or what you want to do (e.g. network drawings, serial bootlogs, whatever that could be useful). Remember that we are not there to see what is happening, so you have to describe it in detail. But no stories of life plz.
  • Post screenshots of the relevant page of the dd-wrt web-interface. It will help to clarify your issue.
  • Be patient. Certain issues require a certain amount of expertise that not everyone has. You might have to wait for the person who knows the answer to your question to show up.
  • Edit your topic subject with a leading [Solved] or [Fixed] when your problem is fixed
