sorry, I try find answer in Wiki and in forum but no any tricks.

WHY:

MEGA build from BrainSlayer is 7.4MB
MEGA build from Eko is 5.8MB

in Web interface ALL are SAME.

may be in BrainSlayer some functions present not in Web, only from command line?

or may be Eko use new compression method? (I read about)

anybody have some thinks abut these?

I just loaded the latest Eko (19-9-2009) and did a compare of /usr/sbin.

These packages are in Brainslayer's and not in Eko's:

astgenkey
tcpdump
streamplayer
autosupport
safe_asterisk
rvnamed
stereorize
aelparse
asterisk (1.3 MB)
iptraf

I think the missing iptraf in Eko's build is a bug....

hmmm ... let me see .... details, details ....

It would seem to me that Brainslayer's builds have some programs that do things, where as Eko's builds *do not* have those programs.

Personally, if you do not know what each program does, then you should not be trying to figure out the differences between them.

Hi crashfly!
Your observation is very acute!! It seems to me too.. Laughing Laughing
the point is "how to enable and where to use (webgui or command line?) these programs".. surely i'm not an expert as you in the router's avaiable advanced features and i can't understand many things but.. sometimes it would be appreciated to me something quite more explained.. everyone has been newbbie at the beginnig!! ;)

Regards.
With respect.

Actually, I was being rude and sarcastic. I apologize. I think asterisk has to do with voice over ip (VOIP). And most of the other "extra" programs I think are there to support asterisk. I do not know if there are any extra 'visible' features from the web gui, but that is about all I know for now.

Hi crashfly! Cool
Thank you for your answer.

Now I (and others newbbie as me) known that BrainSlayer fw has some more utilities for VoIP than Eko's one.. and this may be usefull for someone.

Anyway I had understood the sarcasm in your previous reply.. but sometimes i use to be sarcastic me too and so i can't blame you! :P

Have a nice day sarcastic bro'!! Laughing Laughing
Ciao from Italy
