I imagine that it is a bit early to ask this, but when will the Fonera 2n recieve dd-wrt support?

The 2n was announced today. It includes an 802.11n radio, a USB port, and support for downloading/uploading from bittorrent, Rapidshare, and a number of other services directly to an attached USB hard drive, no PC necessary.

I assume that sooner or later dd-wrt will be ported to the Fonera 2, but would the extra features be supported? It would be really cool to have the USB NAS and downloading features, without the need to deal with the fon service. I believe that these features are already theoretically possible for someone with enough scripting knowledge, but will there ever be an easy to use web interface for setting up/accessing the NAS, and a built in bittorrent client?

Looks like the 2.0n uses a Ralink chipset. Is this a functional copy of an Atheros chipset, or should this conversation be taking place in another sub-forum?

I remember reading BS himself saying there won't be any Ralink support, and no it is not a functional copy of Atheros.

WTF??? What a bad decision to replace the atheros wireless with a ralink one. That'll be the ultimate reason (at least for me) not to buy one of these!

Really? I was just looking around the forum, and it looks like there is a considerable amount of work being put into getting the Ralink chipset working. Evidently there are already open source drivers for it, the challenge is getting them integrated and working with DD-WRT. A lot of new N devices seem to use the Ralink chipsets (Linksys does, at least), it would probably be a mistake to not support them.

What's wrong with the RA link chipset / driver - versus the Atheros one?

As far as I know, the only issue is the lack of support for DD-WRT.

It had been posted to a fonera 2.0n thread that was created in the Atheros section :-/

I have added the FCC ID to the supported hardware wiki page.

FCC ID: NDD9564250816

Here is the FCC filing for it.

https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=907629&fcc_id='NDD9564250816'

It seems that phpBB doesn't like the link above. Use this one instead: http://tinyurl.com/ydmz6l9

According to the FCC filing it was produced by EDIMAX and was given the model number BR-6425N / GR-425N. However, I can't seem to find any info on these model numbers. I'm guessing that this version was made exclusively for lafonera.

I struggled trying to find the rest of the info asked. Could someone help a bit more?

Here are some photos of the fon 2.0n that is being sold outside of the US. Model appears to be white and not black.

only the japanese model is White/Orange... the electronic stores were demanding this...

the European/US models are black/green
there is no other difference hardware or software wise
