Has anyone used a PPTP connection to their router from an iPhone?
Before I spend money on a router that is support by DD-WRT I want to make sure I can VPN from my iPhone using the Edge network.

Thanks for your feedback.

For anyone that has the iPhone connecting to the dd-wrt through VPN either Edge, 3G or Wifi please let me know how you configured this.

Thanks,

not much to configure...

- register a dyndns host and configure it in dd-wrt (if you have a dynamic IP)
- enable the pptp server
- server-IP: your router ip (or leave it empty)
- client-IP: use whatever you want (from your subnet, for example 192.168.0.100-254, don't use your DHCP range)
- put username/password in "chap-secrets" in this style:
username * password *

do the same on the iphone:

- server: your dyndns
- username/pass like configured above
- RSA: disabled
- encryption: max
- for all data: on

Thank-you for the info, I will try it out.

Update 9/13
Not much success;
1) from Edge and 3G I have never been able to connect
2) From Starbuck's I am able to connect 1 out of every 25 or more times. Most of the time I get an error that says unable to establish a connection or connection closed from remote server.

This seems to be pretty unreliable. Is anyone have similar issues?

I finally figured out the problem. The wrt610n router was behind a Linksys Vonage Phone adapter. Even thought the adapter was set to pass through VPN traffic and the wrt610n was in the DMZ it wasn't working. Once I put the wrt610n in front of the phone adapter I had no more problems.

Of course I would rather have the Vonage adapter in front of the wrt610n but that will have to wait for another day.
