I just got this router in today:

http://www.rosewill.com/products/s_1281/productDetail.htm

I tried working with the stock firmware, but I'm afraid after using DD-WRT for years I've become spoiled. From what I can tell it has the same chipset as the Buffalo router? I guess the only question is how much flash space is available...any ideas? I'd like to try it. It was pretty cheap ($25-30 I think), so if there aren't any easy ways I'd be willing to crack it open (have many G routers, just wanted N).

What do you DD-WRT folks think?

*edit*

Said what the hell and cracked it open. Pics attached.

Minus the jtag stuff, all of the information should be there. I looked through the database last night, couldn't find the chips installed on the board. I did take pictures. FCC ID and other info is in the first two posts.

Found a model(?) number on the board: ESR-9752-1.00

Did a quick search and found:

http://www.senao-me.ae/index.php?module=productdescription&productid=59&parentcategory=2&childcategory=17

http://www.4netonline.com/on/index.php?target=products&product_id=657

After that, found this:

http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=54802&highlight=senao+esr9752

Mine looks exactly the same.

Hey, any luck with this router yet? I am looking into getting one of these and I really love the DD-WRT firmware. Is this a good router even without the DD-WRT firmware? Is the distance really good as I would like it to reach into my garage?

I found the unit description from the FCC.
Here:
https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=839643&fcc_id=%27U2M-SR97908003%27

It seams like it is just a re-branded EnGenious ESR-9752. Should be easy to support in general with the Ralink 3052.

If in fact it is the same as a EnGenious ESR-9752 then it's requires activation and is supported according to the http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database

Just pointing something out.

If you open the RF Exposure Report (at the above FCC link) and look at the first few lines (Model No.), the RNX model is grouped with the ESR model.

So they could likely be the same exact unit, just re-branded for Rosewill.

But that would also mean, as Mordak points out, a user would have to pay to activate Professional DD-WRT on it.

I guess this thread can be moved to the Senao Devices forum.

And DD-WRT can add another router to its tentatively Supported Devices list.
