It's not on the list:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Supported_Devices#D-Link

And it probably won't be supported unless someone first donates and sends a unit to them, so they can create a build and test it.

Hi,
hire is link to tech spec,

Looks good :
The DIR-685 has 64 MB of RAM and 32 MB of flash and a 2x2 draft 802.11n radio based on a Ralink RT2880F 2T3R MAC/BB and RT2850L 2.4/5 GHz 2T3R transceiver. The radio, however, is locked to single-band 2.4 GHz operation. The processor could not be determined due to a soldered-in radio module over an RF shield. It does not appear Ubicom-based, however, since Ubicom's signature automatic QoS features are not present in the 685.

Posted on the back of the DIR-685 router, and on the inside, is FCC-ID RRK-WMPND02A1. I checked this FCC-ID at FCC.gov and it doesn't show up.

Since the radio module is soldered in over the CPU you can't tell what it is by examination, however according to a post on dsl-reports it seems to be a Ralink RT2880F PU 266MHz with 64MB RAM and 32MB Flash.

I'm linking several hi res pictures I took of the insides to see if this will help. I have one of these that I'm not using right now as I have replaced it with a Belkin that will run dd-wrt! Will be happy to try any build on it if someone is nice enough to try one. I don't have a jtag cable, but I'm going to order one today so I can get more info on this great router.

How much money would be needed to buy this router? I have no problem donating in order for it to be supported, D-Link's firmware is a joke

So what can I do with a GPL linux source code? (I get the feeling this is a painfully newbish question).
