Does this router require a WHR-G300N build to run, or can I upgrade to a newer generic built once I have dd-wrt already on there? I have the latest BS build from Oct, but would like to try one of the newer Eko builds to see if it plays better with apple devices.

Eko only does Broadcom builds that you should not use on Ralink based hardware. _________________ Read the forum announcements thoroughly! Be cautious if you're inexperienced.

There's no way currently to JTAG the RaLink chipset, and since the
firmware is encrypted, that would be the only way you could get it off.
Or, somehow, you'd have to get the source from Buffalo and compile it yourself.
The RaLink builds are based on the 2.6 Kernels, and it looks like
you do need a 64-bit Linux OS build to compile it on.
I've tried myself, and couldn't get it. Would take a LOT of work. _________________ Soylent Green Is People !

This is my first post.
Just to say that I "flashed" my Buffalo WHR-G300N v1 firmware and it works perfectly.
The guide is really good and the firmware is fantastic.
The latest available in the Router Database.
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/07/10) std - build 14896
also my iPod Touch is the second generation running OS 4.1, all is working fine.

Ah, all my iPhones and iPod touches are still on 3.1.2.
I heard that iOS4 fixes the wifi bug on this router.
I will stick with 12255 for a while.

Is resetting before and after upgrading to the latest build even necessary anymore? I've just upgraded to build 14929 without reset and working fine, even the web interface asks you if you want to reset the setttings.
