My Wireless Network Name has a '2' following it when I view it under wireless network connections.

I changed the name under Wireless>Basic Settings>Wireless Network Name (SSID)

When I changed the name I did not add the 2.

I am using a WRT34G V8 with the latest firmware of DD-WRT installed.

Is there anything I can do to change this? Also of note, If I change the name to anything else the 2 is not present.

That's a Windows (7) related problem, if you reconfigure your router and you give the same ssid as before, somehow it still detects as another network.
Delete the connection, rescan and reconnect.

Open Network and Sharing Center, then in the upper left corner of your screen click on Manage Wireless Networks. After that right click on the name of your connection then click remove network.
