I am really surprised the DD-WRT team isn't making more of an effort here. The RV082 is a pretty high end router and it would really be a feather in the development teams hat to get this router supported.

Whos up for donating to davidgrudek instead?

David, have you enabled telnetd on your rv082 yet?

It may be old news.. but here it is..

http://www.linksysinfo.org/forums/showthread.php?t=47539

I never knew that the 'auto' mtu settings put the adapters at 576!!!

I have the the rv016 as well and I gotta say.. Its a MUCH better router.. More informative/configurable webgui and it runs cooler (for what reason, I don't know, maybe larger case contributes). I wouldn't mind if the rv082 was essentially a 16 minus 5 WAN ports (8 total eth ports).. but its not.. its kinda neutered.. One feature I miss is the link utilization %.. small.. but informative..

edit: Just saw that the telnet trick was posted in the rv042 thread.. What was missing was the commands to make it permanent..

Just in case the linkto requries registration.. here it is..

1st step: (already posted)
http://<Router IP Address>/sysinfo123.htm?ConsoleSimulation=1

eg: http://192.168.1.1/sysinfo123.htm?ConsoleSimulation=1

2nd step: login (duh) with telnet client

3rd step: input commands -

rg_conf_set /nk/telnetd_enabled 1
flash_commit
reboot

Yes I have enabled telnet.

I had emailed with BrainSlayer and he told me he will start working on it right after the new year. He said this is fairly difficult to do. I read a post from Sash that the y are soon to release the dual wan feature so it is all in good timing for support for these routers. I think it will be great.

Guys keep in mind this is free software and BS and all the developers do this for free.

I wish they would start a fee based support option. You can get community support for free that may take a little longer, but also get fast support one on one if you are willing to pay. This way there would be more money for all of them. They deserve to get paid more then they do for such good free software.

Sash or BS, I wanted to know if you have any status on this yet?

Did anyone send you a second unit? If not I could send you a second one if I get your gaurentee it will be worked on right away. It has been 8 months since I sent this to you guys and I have not seen any movement on it yet. These units are not cheap nor is shipping from the US.

Sash posted a couple of months ago that dd-wrt will have fail over soon. Do you know when that will be? Weeks or months????

Im following this RV*** support story a whole while, and i found an interesting thread in the dslreports forum. Maybe this could help you a bit:

http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r23820632-

And @sash: im from germany and maybe i could offer you a pretty new RV082 device for porting or testing if you got the time for it.[/url]

Add me to the list of people eagerly awaiting support for the RV0xx devices.

I have had an RV082 running my office for a while and much prefer working with the dd-wrt interface.
