It is my understanding that the 1.5 is atheros and a 2mb flash unit. dd-wrt & the needed atheros drivers will not fit on that units flash chip

There may never be support for it but TMK, that is not an official word just yet. Or maybe it is and just has not been officially stated.

Maybe ask around in the atheros forum.

Yes. As Hardreset said, our firmware does NOT support the 1.5. It simply has too little RAM and incompatible hardware. Your only option is to get another router.

FCC ID = Q87-WRT54G2V15

https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/oetcf/eas/reports/ViewExhibitReport.cfm?mode=Exhibits&RequestTimeout=500&calledFromFrame=N&application_id=208874&fcc_id=Q87-WRT54G2V15

https://fjallfoss.fcc.gov/prod/oet/forms/blobs/retrieve.cgi?attachment_id=1113620&native_or_pdf=pdf

Looks like a serial flash chip like the 320. Can't make out the chip numbers from the fcc pics. A 1.5 owner needs to take some better pics.

I cracked open a V1.5 unit and the contents are:
Atheros AR7240-AH1E E47132 1B 0910 Taiwan
Winbond W9412G61H-5 0924H 69103P50001
There are two header traces one:
J8 14 pins and a square (presumably pin 1)
J5 is just below J8 5 pins again with a Square trace
around a via (presumably pin1) this goes to the Atheros chip according to the traces that I can see.
Hope this info helps the effort. I took some pics too. I will try to upload those shortly. :D

BTW looks like 2M 4 BANKS 16 BITS DDR SDRAM - http://www.ic-on-line.cn/IOL_W9412G6CH/PdfView/4122919.htm
This is the closest spec sheet I could find

If someone can direct me on the Jtag connections (if it is one) I will be happy to get a dump or whatnot.
I have a parallel jtag cable that I cobbled together that worked for the older 54g units. Cool

This page might be of help in finding the JTAG port. Looks like a little soldering is required; only the pads (no header) are on the logic board as it ships from the factory. While the photo is of a rev 1 Broadcom logic board, it’ll give you an idea of what to look for, and may still be in about the same place on the rev 1.5 logic board.

[Note: the JTAG connector is on the edge of the board; the 5-pin connector to its left is a serial port.]

Still would like some good pics of the board showing the numbers of the flash chip (serial)

the jtag header is the 14 pin header (2 x 7) left hand side of the board, near the middle, not the edge. The serial connection is the 5 pin header under that.

I have a rev 1, so unable to provide any high res photos of the chips; others will have to do that.

They moved the JTAG & Serial port pads on this rev., as barryware notes. Here is a v1.5 logic board photo showing the JTAG & Serial port pads:

First off, Brainslayer, you're awesome. Second, I picked up a v1.5 router for Christmas and snapped a bunch of hi-res pics of the board and WiFi. This seems to be the most dominant reversion board selling at major retail chains, atm. From what I can ascertain, the chips are idenified as follows:

Atheros AR7240-AH1E 400Mhz cpu
Atheros AR9285-AL1E WiFi controller
16MB Winbond W9412G6IH-5H DDR ram
2MB Winbond 25Q16BVSIG flash (next to JTAG)

Let me know if you need any more/better pics of this board, it would be really nice to have DD-WRT on it. I also have a JTAG cable (DLC5) if you need a dump of anything, just need to know what the pinouts are on the board.

Brainslayer has said that there will not be any dd-wrt for the v1.5 - he needs at least 4MB flash memory for an Atheros build.

Maybe he can, don't know about it.
I've got a WRT54G2 v1.5 too, but haven't a good camera (yet).

I went to: http://wapedia.mobi/en/Linksys_WRT54G_series
and it said
Quote:
1.5 400 MHz 16 MB (W9412G6IH) 2 MB CSV

Hardware: Reduced to one internal antenna; switched from Broadcom to Atheros chipset (AR7240-AH1E + AR9285-AL1E http://atheros.com/pt/bulletins/AR9002AP-1SBulletin.pdf)

3rd-party firmware: Currently unsupported, although DD-WRT is being actively worked on as of November 2009. [15]

FCC ID: Q87-WRT54G2V15

So is the router still being worked on? I'll post any pics if needed.
