I have DD-WRT v24 sp1 installed on my wrt54gl router. Is it possible/recommended/safe to upgrade the router's firmware via the command line ( either ssh or telnet ) ?

I know that flashing the firmware during a time that is at high risk of a power cut is not safe ( freezing rain, lightning, falling trees, vacuuming in older houses ), but I am wondering compared to the web firmware upgrade, is it more or less safe?

Thanks,

David

Thanks,

I had looked on google, but I didn't look for the proper keywords. I'll have a look for mtd.

Thanks,

David

Your commands worked great. I also use md5sum to check that the file was properly transfered and reboot afterwards to load the new firmware.

Thanks!

David
