I've got a couple of nics that arent recognized, but how do I do the lspci and post the info when the card won't connect?
I've got an Asus M3N78-VM with onboard nForce 10/100/1000 connected to the wrt600n w/ DD-WRT v24-sp2 mega 13064 that is not recognized. From another network computer I did a lspci -n -v, but there's nothing that even resembles the expected nVidia nForce device.
I reflashed to DD-WRT v24-sp2 (02/03/10) mega (SVN revision 13832) and the RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet will connect now, but only at 100. No help at all on the nVidia Corportion MCP78S [GeForce 8200] Ethernet.
Thanks Borage for your help. I'm still unable to connect to the box with the nForce onboard nic though. Any advice, even recommendations for a compatable gigabit card would be appreciated.
I have one Nvidia nForce NIC in my test router, but this adapter is only 100 Mbps. The only Nvidia nForce Gigabit card I have is in the workstation I use right now.
The only Gigabit card I can recommend right now is Realtek RT8169 based cards. The card is widely used and it supports MTU up to 9500. Users will be able to utilize additional bytes for VLAN and MPLS tags, or simple increase of interface MTU to get rid of the some unnecessary fragmentation.
Its weird, the onboard nVidia MCP78S Gigabit Ethernet doesn't connect at all. I get the network cable is disconnected notice when I connect it to the router, but when I connect it directly to my dsl modem it connects fine at 100. Your nForce is fine?... maybe my router's got hardware problems?
My RTL-8169 that is only connecting at 100 should be working fine at 1000 from the sounds of it. Is there anything I should have to set up? I had an ECS NForce6M that had an onboard gigabit nic that worked out of the box.
Ok, did that. Most recent mobo bios flashed but same results connecting to the wrt600. The onboard nForce acts like there's no cable, no lights. The NetGear GA311/RTL8169 connected once at 100, but the next time showed limited or no connectivity. I've tried different ports on the router and different cables.
Is there any way to get more information from the router about why the connections aren't being made, check the status of the drivers that are loaded, diag them, etc? Thanks for your help Sash, Borage.
I am posting here under recommendation from Sash regarding this thread.
I have a Advantech SOM-DB5700 development board, running 02-23-10-r13972. I cannot find any newer bios for the board, so I believe it is running the latest.
