Hi Guys, I am brand new to this dd-wrt stuff, but I think this is the right place for my question.

I am trying to get dd-wrt running on an Advantech SOM-6761 board. The board is using intel Atom N2701 processor, 945GSE chipset.

There are two integrated ethernet adaptors, one gigabit and one 100Mb. lspci only shows one though, and it is "unknown".

Code:

root@DD-WRT:~# lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Memory Controller Hub (rev 03)
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS/GME, 943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)
00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02)
00:1c.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 1 (rev 02)
00:1c.3 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) PCI Express Port 4 (rev 02)
00:1d.0 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #1 (rev 02)
00:1d.1 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #2 (rev 02)
00:1d.2 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #3 (rev 02)
00:1d.3 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB UHCI Controller #4 (rev 02)
00:1d.7 USB Controller: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) USB2 EHCI Controller (rev 02)
00:1e.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev e2)
00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 02)
00:1f.1 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) IDE Controller (rev 02)
00:1f.2 IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801GBM/GHM (ICH7 Family) SATA IDE Controller (rev 02)
00:1f.3 SMBus: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) SMBus Controller (rev 02)
[b]02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation: Unknown device 10d3[/b]

I have tried loading the e1000 module, but that didnt seem to help.

I've got a couple of nics that arent recognized, but how do I do the lspci and post the info when the card won't connect?

I've got an Asus M3N78-VM with onboard nForce 10/100/1000 connected to the wrt600n w/ DD-WRT v24-sp2 mega 13064 that is not recognized. From another network computer I did a lspci -n -v, but there's nothing that even resembles the expected nVidia nForce device.

I've also got a NetGear card, but one at a time.

Any advice?

The driver for Nvidia nForce is forcedeth.ko. I have this driver in DD-WRT v24-sp2 (02/03/10) std - build 13832.

Upgrade to the same release I have and see if it works.

I ran the lspci again, this time from the computer not the router Confused and got these excerpts:

00:0a.0 200: 10de:0760 (rev a2)
Ethernet controller: nVidia Corportion MCP78S [GeForce 8200] Ethernet (rev a2)
Kernel in use: forcedeth

I also have this card in another machine:

00:0f.0 0200: 10ec:8169 (rev10)
Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet (rev 10)
Kernel in use: r8169

Thanks Borage. I checked the router database and 13064 is the latest recommended for the wrt600. Where did you find 13832 and what router is it for?

I used the X86 version of DD-WRT. You can get build 13832 for wrt600n in the broadcom directory.

I reflashed to DD-WRT v24-sp2 (02/03/10) mega (SVN revision 13832) and the RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet will connect now, but only at 100. No help at all on the nVidia Corportion MCP78S [GeForce 8200] Ethernet.

Is there anyway I can install drivers?

Thanks Borage for your help. I'm still unable to connect to the box with the nForce onboard nic though. Any advice, even recommendations for a compatable gigabit card would be appreciated.

I have one Nvidia nForce NIC in my test router, but this adapter is only 100 Mbps. The only Nvidia nForce Gigabit card I have is in the workstation I use right now.

The only Gigabit card I can recommend right now is Realtek RT8169 based cards. The card is widely used and it supports MTU up to 9500. Users will be able to utilize additional bytes for VLAN and MPLS tags, or simple increase of interface MTU to get rid of the some unnecessary fragmentation.

Its weird, the onboard nVidia MCP78S Gigabit Ethernet doesn't connect at all. I get the network cable is disconnected notice when I connect it to the router, but when I connect it directly to my dsl modem it connects fine at 100. Your nForce is fine?... maybe my router's got hardware problems?

My RTL-8169 that is only connecting at 100 should be working fine at 1000 from the sounds of it. Is there anything I should have to set up? I had an ECS NForce6M that had an onboard gigabit nic that worked out of the box.

I appreciate the help.

Ok, did that. Most recent mobo bios flashed but same results connecting to the wrt600. The onboard nForce acts like there's no cable, no lights. The NetGear GA311/RTL8169 connected once at 100, but the next time showed limited or no connectivity. I've tried different ports on the router and different cables.

Both cards seem to work at 100 with my modem.

Is there any way to get more information from the router about why the connections aren't being made, check the status of the drivers that are loaded, diag them, etc? Thanks for your help Sash, Borage.

I am posting here under recommendation from Sash regarding this thread.

I have a Advantech SOM-DB5700 development board, running 02-23-10-r13972. I cannot find any newer bios for the board, so I believe it is running the latest.

lspci shows:
Code:

02:00.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82574L Gigabit Network Connection

dmesg | grep e100 shows:
Code:

e100: Intel(R) PRO/100 Network Driver, 3.5.23-k4-NAPI
e100: Copyright(c) 1999-2006 Intel Corporation

The device does not come up in ifconfig.

The following commands do get it to come up though

Code:

rmmod e100
insmod e1000e
rc restart

Can it be added so that it comes up by default?
