For future searches:

I got it working in openwrt. Im sure its possible in dd-wrt too, but I didnt manage to do it.

To install in openwrt, simply install openwrt kamikaze according to instructions and then do:
opkg update
opkg install tcpdump

Telnet to your router running dd-wrt an copy-paste below lines and it should work fine. You don't need jffs2. It's assumed you have ipkg installed on your firmware version. std has it and probably mini also.

just run it with command: tcpdump
Note that you'll have to run these lines everytime you power-cycle the router

If i have a linux box with samba installed and a share, and this linux box also has tcpdump installed on it.

Is there a way to put the tcpdump program in the share folder of the linux box. load this share into dd-wrt and run that tcpdump on the router and have it also store it's results back to the share on the linux box?

I am looking not to have to installed extra stuff onto the router. Its eko 12548 std. on a wrt54gl.

Thanks.

DD-WRT v24-sp2 (05/25/10) mini - build 14473

and I already ordered monster router RT-N16 lol.
well, I think I'll find somewhere space for it.
