Router Model
Asus WL-520GU/GC
Firmware Version
DD-WRT v24-sp2 (10/10/09) mini-usb-ftp - build 13064
On home PC #1 I have Auto IP and DNS in WinXP IP settings. As of some date (few weeks ago) I cannot open goole.com. I can open any other website without any problem. I can search in yahoo but cannot in google. I use firefox.
On home PC #1 I have static IP and I specified DNS server manually - same as in dd-wrt info page. I also used to have such problem on this PC before I set manual DNS. But I dont anymore. I always can open google.
Why do I have problem on pc #1? Can I make dd-wrt to autoconfigure DNS on client PCs to be real DNS instead of 192.168.1.1?
I managed to temporary solve problem by flushing DNS cashe on router ($ killall -1 dnsmasq). I dont see any newer version for my router in router database though.
I feel you kvad...it is hard to navigate with these tons of versions out there.
Go to the "Router Database". See the "other downloads"?, click that, then click on "others", then "Eko", then click on "BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2". That should get you to the newest builds.
Have you tried "ipconfig /flushdns" in the command prompt in Windows? Or under the Basic Setup tab on the router, have you specified the Static DNS servers? Tested with OpenDNS servers? Hope it helps =) _________________

No I did not try "ipconfig /flushdns". But it's not practical - I dont want to do it every time, right? No Static DNS.
All I want is for DD-WRT not to be supersmart and leave DNS to outside provider. Can I make it to pass provider DNS ip to client PCs instead of 192.168.1.1?

You may want to try OpenDNS for your DNS addresses instead of your ISP's DNS server.
On the Setup>>Basic tab you can input the OpenDNS addresses in the fields for DNS1 and DNS2...then put one of your ISP's DNS addresses in the DNS3 field.
Oh...BTW...the 8.8.8.8 address is the DNS server for google.

Hi,
just untick "use dnsmasq for dns" on the BasicSetup page if you don`t need dnsmasq as dns server.
Then your client pc should get the real dns servers of your provider over DHCP. _________________ Netgear WNR834B v2 - Eko build v24-sp2 15943M mini NEWD K2.4 (running MINIUPNPD)

Then you have to disable dnsmasq on the services tab and untick all stuff from dnsmasq on the setup page. _________________ Netgear WNR834B v2 - Eko build v24-sp2 15943M mini NEWD K2.4 (running MINIUPNPD)
