Hi,

Is the Linksys WRT54G3G (UK) compatible with DD-WRT?

This is a WiFi Router that can use Vodafone's Cellular 3G Data network to share Broadband via WiFi.

I have an application to create instant-deployment WiFi Hotspots in the UK, but I must load DD-WRT onto the router for this to work, and use 3G for the broadband. I would be very grateful for any pointers if I can do this as I am new to DD-WRT.

Many thanks,

Ben

If you're developing a commercial product, then I'm not sure what the answer is. I don't think there is currently any 3G/GPRS support built into any distribution of *WRT. I could be wrong.

If you're just building one for yourself, you could use a stock 54G3G and another 54G to implement the solution easily.

I was able to flash a WRT54G3G to the latest v24 RC4 without issue, but I did lose support for my EV-DO card. (Both are on long-term loan from Sprint as part of a tech evaluation I'm doing, and I still have my wired broadband to fall back on, so fortunately I still have connectivity.)

I just posted a how to in the forums and a tutorial on the wiki on using a usb modem or cellular phone for a wan connection.

Depending on how the card interfaces this may also work in your situation. At the least maybe it can give you some hints on what to try.
