Hello,

So a while back, I managed to mess up my wrt-54g v5 router with a firmware flash (don't remember exactly what I did, it was months ago). I'm now back trying to fix it. According to the wiki, it looks like it may have a bad bootloader because the power LED flashes for longer than two minutes.

I was able to get into the linksys management mode and attempted to upload the current linksys firmware, it said flash successful, but still had the same problem. I also dried the recommended dd-wrt firmware but the upgrade failed.

I assume flashing does not fix the bootloader? ..not sure. Anyways, how would I go about fixing this unit? I managed to create a bootloader using the tool suggested in the wiki but can't access the router using telnet or ssh, so not sure how to get it on there.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

"Ping fine" doesn't really tell much, and isn't what you are asked to post from note 6.

See the jtag wiki.

There is nothing wrong with your boot loader if management mode screen appears.

I agree with LOM on this one. If you can get the management screen, then your router knows enough to get that far. It would seem that you might not be waiting enough for the router to finish reconfiguring itself, or you might even trying to load a corrupted firmware. You might even need to be loading the alternate wireless driver instead of what you are using. (Possibly VINT instead of NEWD.)

I don't know what VINT and NEWD are, but I got the firmware directly from the linksys website after selecting the corresponding model router. It wouldn't be a problem going back to a linksys firmware after attempting to flash with dd-wrt, would it?

Yes there would, dd-wrt is running linux and the original firmware is running vxworks operating system.

Go to the dd-wrt wiki and check out your models flashing instruction to see if there is a revert for it.
