HI,

so i am trying to hack my WRT54G as a web based switch and figured that GPIO control of the LEDs (with a relay or 2) should meet my needs.

The problem I am having is the telnet in plus "gpio enable 1" doesnt do anything (in the range 1-Cool, and likewise for "gpio disable 1" (in the range 1-Cool.

If i try gpio 0 then the router hangs and it also hung once with a disable 5. Have i missed something? All i really want to be able to do with this router is use it as a switch via commands sent from a web page.

Thanks for the help;

Andy

EDIT just to cover the firmware the router is running :

And if i ever get to the bottom of this, is there a simple way i could forward the gpio command from another machine to the IP address of the router and get it to execute the command?

Ideally i would like to create a user (wife) friendly web age front to switching the relays.

Thanks

I was just wondering if i had mis understood how gpio enable/disable should work.

With gpio disable/enable commands should i see the leds on the front of the router switch off/on without any hardware modifications?

That was my understanding from reading around here /google but that just doesnt seem to work. I have just reflashed to the VINTAGE : standard dd-wrt.v24-13064_VINT_std.bin

but again the gpio commands dont switch the leds on or off. gpio poll tends to return 00 which is what i would expect.

Thanks for any help someone can give me.

Wow, was hoping someone would be able to give me a clue what might be going on by now. Is there anything else I can post to get to the bottom of why this might not be working (logs etc?)

You may have to wait for someone knowledgeable that owns that unit to come on the board.

I've done a lot of digging looking for gpio's over the months / years...

I have never been able to get the lan port lights to change (on / off / or color) excluding routers with a gig switch.. those I can change colors (green / amber)..

I think (not sure) that the port leds are part of the switch.. I've mixed'em up.. (plug into port 2 and port three lights up) but haven't found a definitive way to manipulate the lan port led's.

In summery... Wait for someone with a definitive answer to chime in as DS suggested..
