QoS - fair bandwidth sharing

Suppose I've got 16 clients sharing a 128 kbyte/s uplink. How do I setup QoS such that the bandwidth is divided in a fair way?

If all clients are uploading, each should get 16 kbyte/s. If only 2 are uploading, both should get 64 kbyte/s, etc.

i got a draytek router a vigor 2600+ and for some reason i get reduced download speeds when qos is enabled.

i enabled qos to provide priority to skype and email. but even when im not using skype or email the max download speed was lower at around 3mbit, without qos enabled i was able to get 4mbit download speeds, (do note and connection to isp was showing as 4 meg with both qos on and off).

could this be the issue of the router now being powerful enough to use qos on a 4meg line?

Hopefully the existing QoS in dd-wrt would be fixed before adding new QoS capabilities. The current QoS is half-baked, error prone (loses data) and simply fails to prioritize.

Eg. try sending a voip fax with dd-wrt QoS - it will not work. And voice conversations are rougher than without. Yet a Hawking "broadband booster" has no problem with either of those tasks.

"For BitTorrent, many home users set up port forwarding on the TCP range 6881-6889. These ports must be directed to the computer running the BitTorrent client. If more than one computer on the network may run BitTorrent, a different range such as 6890-6899 or 6990-6999 can be used for each. Remember that BitTorrent uses ports in the 6881-6999 only."

Block all those ports by default.

Am sure your internet would greatly improve.

Torrents are always going to mess with QoS if you have mass amounts of them going.

That's a shame. What's the reason this hasn't been fixed yet?
