Hello,

New user here with a Buffalo WZR-HP-G54. My unit just arrived tonight, and I've already flashed it with DD-WRT, but I've been lurking on the forums for a couple of days getting prepared for everything. Doesn't seem to be a popular unit, but I managed to get a unit for cheap (prob b-stock/refurbished) and it was cheaper than the WHR-HP-G54 which a lot of users here seem to have. Buffalo units are expensive in Japan!

I haven't changed any settings from the beginning but I've run into a minor glitch and wondering if it's anything to worry about:

Router Name: DD-WRT
Router Model: Linksys WRTSL54GS
Firmware Version: DD-WRT v23 SP2 (09/15/06) std - build 3932

CPU Model: Broadcom BCM4704 chip rev 8
CPU Clock: 264 MHz

Total Available: 96% 62800 kB / 65536 kB
Free: 84% 52512 kB / 62800 kB
Used: 16% 10288 kB / 62800 kB
Buffers: 13% 1328 kB / 10288 kB
Cached: 39% 3988 kB / 10288 kB
Active: 28% 2864 kB / 10288 kB
Inactive: 24% 2468 kB / 10288 kB

Everything looks correct, except the Router is identified as a Linksys WRTSL54GS. Now I've read BS say that it's just a name, but the part I'm worried about is the Xmit power setting.

Xmit power is set at 28mW which is the default setting, but I've heard people say that for the WHR-HP model, it shouldn't be above 10 or risk damaging the amplifier. I set it to 10mW just now to be on the safe side.

If I leave it at 10mW, the amp should be working okay, and I should just ignore the router identification?

Thanks in advanced, dd-wrt is great! I can't wait to start tweaking it.

P.S. The notes about the boardflags has never been confirmed for this unit? How does dd-wrt handle it?

Hi, I picked mine up from Yahoo! Auction Japan actually, but if you're not in Japan, you might have a hard time finding a seller who will ship internationally. It's a discontinued model too so I don't think you'll be able to find them new in stores.

The refurbished unit [small paint scratch on the front panel] cost me about $60USD after shipping and that is a bargain. A new WZR-G54-HP is about 160USD and a WHR-HP-G54 is 110USD.

Eko: I'll post this information up when I get back home! Is there any other code that you need?

I've also taking pictures of both sides of the circuit board and the antenna board if anyone would like those posted up.

Also, is v.24's latest beta confirmed/suspected to work/not work on this thing?

Thanks in advance.

Buffalo has some even more high end models, but they aren't based on the Broadcom chipset.

Search for the WZR-HP-G54, not WZR-G54-HP ;)

Eko: dd-wrt now displays Buffalo WZR-HP-G54. Thanks!
