Hello,

I have been reading a lot, before asking help but there are so many firmware and ways that I am lost, my brother is leaving just in front of me like 30 meters distance.

I got internet right now by pluging a usb directional antenna pointing to him. He uses wpa encryption on a usrobotics router and of course he gave me the wpa key. Now I bought a wrt54gl router and want to get the internet the same but through my wireless router wrt54gl.

is there a firmware to flash to get internet this way without the need for my brother to buy another device ?

thank you

Put DD-WRT on it, wireless settings -> wl0 network mode -> Repeater. Match the SSID and encryption of his router. If you want your router to broadcast a separate wifi network, create a virtual interface.

If you wish to know which firmware to use, see the wiki for that router and the announcents at the start of this forum, right at the top.

If you wish to know how to do this, see the wiki on 'linking routers'.
