Hi, I'm fairly new here and just got DD-WRT working on my linksys WRT54GS V7 yesterday . So far I'm loving it and am using it in my basement as a repeater and I wired it to my xbox to get live.
But I was wondering, I heard that the versions of DD-WRT are micro standard and mega. I saw that on the downloads for my router it just had micro. What's the difference??? Also if standard or mega is better, would it be safe to install??
Also, the router has the cisco logo in the bottom left that turns orange when easy link adviser or something is running. For some reason the only time a device that is wired to it can connect to internet through it is when the logo is orange and it seems to turn on a minute or so after plugging it into something. Thanks
The comparisons of the versions are here, but your router only has a 2MB Flash, so it can only accept the Micro.
I think in the DD-WRT firmware the logo glows when there's an internet connection established, but I could be wrong on that. _________________ Netgear R7800, 46885 (05/06/2021)

With dd-wrt the orange LED indicates WAN connectivity. So it's ok if it lits up.

as RenRenRen said, your router version only accepts micro builds, the build with most features your router could handle it's the micro-plus-ssh.
