What are the differences between big and mega builds of latest 15508 EKO K26 firmware?

Acording to that table there is no mega K26 build at all. Yet the file is in EKO firmware folder.

Have you read the "Peacock" thread (see my signature). It explains everything you need to know. This one would fall under the category of note "18. Miscellaneous stuff"

Maybe make it its own sticky...

I just went looking at all the links and found a few thinks I did not know but more about what one build had the other did not.. I know there is a dated list somewhere, last look it did not have both mega and big. For me I needed big for ext3 usb disk to work. Guessing that is one difference, big has ext3 and mega has ntfs, at least with Eko builds.

(Crashfly, tried to get dropbox working on ddwrt?)

The "Peacock" thread doen't list differences between EKO K26 big and mega builds.
The two differences I was able to find from various threads so far:

1. Big has NTFS, while mega doesn't have it.
2. Big doesn't have Asterisk, while mega does have it.

These things are not mentioned in "Peacock" thread and Wiki build list doesn't mention EKO K26 mega build at all.

Are there any other differences?

eko is now doing big & mega, before only brainslayer was doing that. are they both including the same software in each, because it used to be eko's builds were missing a few packages brainslayer included in his.

if eko and brainslayer builds are identical now, then mega build is big + an old version of asterisk and a program called pound, possibly with NTFS support stripped. The wiki table doesn't mention if big builds really have NTFS support.

I'm personally going with the big build because the missing programs can be installed via optware and are generally newer and easier to work with anyway, and if I get NTFS support, even better. I'm also thinking because of the smaller ROM size, there will be extra space for nv_ram & JFFS flash storage (If I'm not mistaken it works like this, I hope).

For JFFS - yes, but size of nvram is hard coded in CFE and firmware.

So is it safe to say that if I want NTFS support, I will need to use "big" builds instead of "mega" versions? Seems a little backwards. The wiki page list only lists up till big builds for the K26 firmware.

I have the Linksys E3000 and I'm running SVN revision 15962 of the mega firmware if this helps.

Thank you!

I would have thought that mega would have everything possible and that big would have some options like asterisks and NTFS support taken out.

Whatever the case, as long as its in the wiki or big and mega comparison chart.

In most cases that would be true. However, mega has too much to be able to fit *everything*. Eko removed some less used stuff in mega, added ntfs support and then called it big. In the end, it serves its purpose.

The e3k run on E3000 routers only. For the difference between big and mega versions, see the previous posts in this thread.

No, you misunderstood the question. What I was asking was what is the difference between eko's build versus brainslayer's build?

One is compiled by brainslayer, the other by eko. Other than that, read the previous posts and the links already in this thread.
