Simple question that upon searching and searching I can't seem to find an answer for?!

Can a BT Home Hub 2.0 (Type A) run dd-wrt firmware of any kind? Having opened her up I've found that it is indeed Broadcom based.. and Google has shown me that the device can be unlocked (http://www.psidoc.com/showthread.php/7-How-to-hack-or-unlock-your-home-hub-2.0A-via-software.)

Chip details for someone cleverer than me...

The Flash Memory I think - Spansion S29GL128N90TFIR2
ADSL - Broadcom BCM6358KFBG
Switch - Broadcom BCM5325EKQMG
Ram Maybe? - Hynix HY5DU121622D

Any advice would be much appreciated in turning this bit of kit into something more useful?

The Devs would need one to see if it would work. I assume BT stands for Brtish Telecom, and while I don't know the practices in the UK, I know that here, in the good 'ol U.S. of A, most ISP's give their customers really crappy equipment (Especially in the South) and you are usually better off with your own equipment.

Are you sure? I've seen the word "Danube" several times in TRAC

The devices I have seen dd-wrt on that are combo devices are no longer combo devices, they are routers only.

However, with the Danube additions, I am not sure at this point.

Cheers for your responses guys!

It had kinda skipped my mind that this was a Router/Modem combo.. Woops; I was only really thinking of using the routing parts of the device.

Looks like I'll have to save up for a decent device to run dd-wrt on; my current cheap router and cheap wireless access point are both too cheap to support it.

It was worth grabbing at straws with the free BT (yes British Telecom) box I got as it seemed to have all the necessary Broadcom bits. Shame I can't turn this fairly naff bit of kit into something useful.

PPPoA is an ATM-protocol
ATM is used on DSL

Why not use it as a slave router. If you plugin a usb hard disk into the usb port you can have a network drive.
Other than that not much can be done with the BT HH.

Are we still in the same position with the BT Hub 2 as we were back in 2011?

I have an old one and I don't really want to throw it away...
