Hi:

I am a newbie and I was wondering if anyone was successful with either using:

(i) the push button power switch at the back of the router, or
(ii) the power switch for the surge protector strip that was powering the router

instead of pulling the power cord to carry out the installation of DD-WRT?

The DD-WRT installation instructions are as follows:

Quote:
4. Hold the reset button under the router for 30 seconds and do not release it, while still holding the reset button unplug the router and leave it unplugged for 30 more seconds. Still holding the reset button, plug the router back in and wait yet another 30 seconds. Unplug the router again and release the reset button, plug it back in and wait at least 2 minutes, this is critical as the router is building NVRAM settings.

The reason I would like to do it via a power switch is that it would make the process a lot more easier and thereby reduce the chance of a mistake.

Thanks

Doesn't matter as long as the router looses power from any means except a thunderstorm.
