From Ashtray to Mousepad.
For $20 more, the e4200 looks a lot more impressive than the repackaged e3000 (e3200). 450Mbps in 5Ghz band for the 4200, where the 1/2/3xxx's only reach 300Mbps. _________________ Home/Office

I like the idea of no visible LED's from the front or top. I am using an E3000 (v2 convert) as a client bridge for three devices in my home theater system (internet connectible TV, blu-ray player, and an xbox).
The visable led's blinking are sometimes distracting when watching spooky movies with the room dark.
And as a bonus for when you brick it, you can then use it for a serving tray when you have guests _________________ [Moderator Deleted]
The E2500 looks like a good deal for a simultaneous dual band model with gigabit Ethernet if it's really gigabit. The feature overview says it's gigabit but the spec chart says it's 100mbps.
/me waits for the flood of requests for dd-wrt support. _________________ Read the forum announcements thoroughly! Be cautious if you're inexperienced.

Anybody notice this?
E3200:
Bands: Simultaneous 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
Transmit / receive: 2 x 3
Antennas: 6 Internal
E2500:
Bands: Simultaneous 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz
Transmit / receive: 2 x 2
Antennas: 4 Internal
:?
And under features:

Yes, I wouldn't be surprised if the E2500 is not Broadcom based. The radio built into BCM4716-18 is 2x3 MIMO so the E1500 and E3200 are probably using it. _________________ Read the forum announcements thoroughly! Be cautious if you're inexperienced.

Have a client that just got the e1200 any idea of timeline on a release for it. The 8 sites you get to block with the default firmware aren't enough for him.
Not sure if he should return it and get an older one if he still can.

When someone provides the required info for Eko to add support for it, particularly its CFE, and then tests it, or when people donate one to Eko.
If they can't wait an indefinite time then they should get a device that is already supported. _________________ Read the forum announcements thoroughly! Be cautious if you're inexperienced.

In regards to technical info on at least the E1200, there's been a partial breakdown done that reveals that there's at least a chance of compatibility. (There IS a high-res pic included of the innards of the E1200.)
The E1200 does run a Broadcom chip (Broadcom BCM5357), and (internally) is similar to the E1000 save that its flash chip (a Macronix MX25L3206E) has 4MB of memory (as opposed to the E1500 which has 8MB of flash memory).
The main memory is a pretty standard Winbond chip (variant of W942508CH-5 that Datasheet Catalog doesn't have the datasheet for just yet, but it's just a "JH" rather than "CH" chip), 32MB of memory on board. (I'm willing to bet that this is simply a chip with some different temperature tolerances in the same family, based on my own experiences messing about with SMT devices.)
Now the main thing is going to be a CFE rip via JTAG...and we should be in business
I just picked up the E1200 today. It's a great router. But I miss DD-WRT. I have that installed on my old WRT54GS v1.0. It's great software. I can't wait until I can update the E1200 and get my WDS running like I want it.

I'm with you, I picked up 2 for my office wifi network about a week ago and they work great but I just miss the additional functionality of dd-wrt over this overly basic factory firmware. I'll wait patiently for the update with restrained enthusiasm. _________________ [ Routers ]
