I´m using PuTTY and that worked on the first try..
You changend the IP? Is it working, without changing the ip? (default should be 192.168.1.1)
I figured that out,
After I flashed the firmware, it asked me whether I would like keep the setting and I answered yes.
After reboot I was not able to login via telnet.
The OpenWrt telnet daemon, as it appears, allows to login only if the password is not set at all, otherwise it will keep on refusing to the connection (which was exactly my case, since I kept the setting from the previous standard OpenWrt version).
The solution is simple start the Failsafe mode and install ssh daemon.
it could be very nice having dd-wrt working with usb support. This because MR3420_v1.2 is the same hardware of the WR841ND_v7.1 but it has the usb 2.o just on board. Unfortunatelly I can't find any kind of MR3420 support.
If anyone will compile this firmware should add the MR3420 tag into it to let flashing that router too.
I tried the WR841ND_v7 dd-wrt firmware onto MR3420 and I confirm that it works fine and lacks only the usb support. It would be nice that anyone compile anyway the wr841ND_v7 dd-wrt firmware for the MR3420 hardware tag too also if it lacks the usb support, because to load that firmware actually you have to load the openwrt one and then do a mtd command line to upgrade to this and to come back to the original you have to revert to tp-link stock WR841nd firmware, then openwrt WR841nd firmware and after that to the original MR3420 tp-link one...
I got confused. Do I have to solder any extra resistor or just the wires directly to R601 and R602?
You don't need to solder any additional resistors but you have to use extra 5V power supply for USB devices. For USB Flash drive it will be enough to use something like MP3-player charger, but external 2.5" HDD will require about 1A current.
Is it possible to flash the TL-MR3420-v1 build in Openwrt trunk over TL-WR841ND-v7 (same ar7241 & ar9287) with usb mod? I think it can save a lot of effort.
Hello guys. I want to add usb to my 841nd v7, my soldering skills are low, so, your images are not clear to me.
Is "vcc" 3.3V? So, we need to convert it to 5V (or find another source), or why did you add 7805/DC-DC? May I just connect usb wires to 220V->5V adapter, taken from modem\mp3, and is it necessary to remove r613 and bridge c496 then?
Can you explain more about making power supply, please?
I've soldered d+ and d- and connected to a hub with power supply. And openwrt doesn't see flash drive in hub.
Probably, it's because I accidentally removed r674... Can I put r613 to r674's place?
Posted: Tue Sep 27, 2011 8:01 Post subject: Trouble with USB! TL-WR841ND V7.1
Good Day for All!
I can not understand with what may be due to a problem - when USB drive can not be recognized in the system.
I've done everything according to the scheme, taking into account all possible errors. I tried to swap D + and D-on contact but the error and is cleared.
Can there be a problem in the power supply? Or, with a long wire from the board to USB drive? Or can the problem of interference, because the wire without shielding?
