I am currently running DD-WRT v24-sp2 (04/13/11) std - build 16785 on a Linksys WRT160NL for 21 days without any stability issues. WAN (Cable Internet) has the same up-time as the router. So far I have been very satisfied with this version. Wireless has been pretty stable. The wireless range could be a bit better but I think that is not only the firmware but also the routers hardware. I have not noticed any strange behavior. If you are interested in configuration I use please let me know and I'll post some screenshots.

I'm using also 16785 on my WRT160NL, but i'm experiencing frequently connection drops, difficulty in reconnecting, is near unusable.

First i set the tx power to 20 dBm, i noticed that the atheros connect, stay 10 seconds connected then drop it with tx power drop to 17 dBm and channel shift to another random channel.

So i set the tx power to 18 dBm and for a day seems more stable, then the problem occur again.

I face this problem also with 14896, 14929, 15704 version.

Any idea?

Thanks.

Hi hellboyz77, I am curious how have you set your antenna chains in the setup for the WRT160NL? I have left TX on 20 (shows as 14 in status window), have put AntennaGain on 2, and the antenna chains are default TX1+3 and RX1+2+3 (I know its a 2x2 MIMO but still seemed to recommended setting).

Concerning 16785 INADYN seems to be working perfectly for me.

for 160nl tx is 1+2+3 and rx is 1+3. 20dbi will show up as 20dbi

I've tried all possible combination, now i've TX 1+2+3 and RX 1+3, still having stability issue.

INADYN works fine when the router is connected.

Yes, it was the first that i've tried, worked for a month, then suddenly stop working correctly. For this reason i've downloaded the other version, but the result seems the same.

After extensive test, the 14896 seems the most stable, but the wireless performance is not so good.

Anyway, i'm very disappointed of the WRT160NL behavior as client bridge, connection instability and poor performance so far.

14896 is pretty far from being the most stable, if you keep tabs on the timeline you'll see that build was very short lived before 14929 came out, most of that time that happens, its for a good reason.

totally concur on 14929. I sent a WZR-HP-G300NH to my parents' house >2000mi away with that build on it, and have yet to touch it (knock on wood). It just, works. I recommend the same thing to folks trying out dd-wrt on broadcom.

Ok, so i've flashed the router with 14929, resetted it, removed and reinserted both the antenna.

I will report if it works well in the next days.

Thanks.

After some days i found that even 14929 is not stable in client mode. The problem remain, TX and RX rate often go to 104 Mbit, even if i set G-Only. This cause disconnection from the host router that is a G only router.

The WRT160NL act in this way:
1) Connect to the host router on the right channel, example 11.
2) Set the TX and RX rate to 104 (sometimes only TX rate is set to 104, the RX rate is variable).
3) Stay connected about 10 seconds, then there is a shift to a random channel. Connection lost.
4) Repeat from step 1.

I see this behavior with almost all the build that i've tried (14896, 14929, 15704, 16725)

Maybe i should open a specific thread since this seems to be not related to a particular build.
