Has anyone an idea?

Did you try the 30/30/30 reset before and after switching the firmware? and setting factory defaults afterwards?

Hello, I am george!
I still do this problem with speeds. Does anyone found a solution. It is interesting that after a reboot connects to 150mbps. After 2 minutes the connection is 65mbps.

I have a v1.8 WR741ND (connected to a Billion 7300G in bridge mode) running DD-WRT version 24 preSP2. Having absolutely no luck with the thing dialling the PPPoE connection.

Here's my process for flashing DD-WRT:

- 30-30-30 reset with stock firmware
- Flash factory-to-ddwrt
- 30-30-30 reset
- Flash webflash version
- 30-30-30 reset
- Set up router as required

I've done this a few times now and PPPoE just doesn't seem to work at all (no issues at all using the stock TP-Link firmware)

Anybody have any thoughts?

In my opinion the DD-WRT build for the 741ND is not good. I have a Asus WL500gPremium and this build is much more stable.

On my TP-Link the MAC addresses for LAN, WAN and WIRELESS changes sometimes when reboot. The WAN interface is disabled as default. So whenever I need for factory reset I have to physically get my router in the office for enable the WAN again.

Also the stability with the ChilliSpot service is not good.

I hope someone can make a good build on this router. I need a chillispot router with one antenna output and the 741ND is good here.

I have tried the 15778 and the 17xxx (don´t remember this build no)

This is pretty much the conclusion I've come to. Guess it's just the stock firmware for this one then (thankfully it's not a load of rubbish)

Which image should I use to have openvpn as well?

Your only way out now is to connect a serial interface to the router in order to stop it booting and starting the tftp transfer.
See the dd-wrt wiki Hardware DYI section.

Ok I have the exact same problem, I tried looking at the above link but couldn't really figure out what I exactly need to do. My router is 741ND v2.4 and I have a Nokia DKU-5 cable which I can supposedly modify to connect to my router's serial interface.

Can you please guide me a bit on this? I bricked my router in less than 24 hours of my purchase Sad

yes. I currently have it.

Use the V1.X-V2.0 image and be sure to do a 30-30-30 reset after the initial factory2dd-wrt flash.

I have the TL-WA701ND, which is hardware the same as this one minus the 4 LAN ports. I know this seems kind of newbish, but I would like to know if someone who has developed for this one could port the firmware over or could instruct me how to make the changes to make it work.

correct me if I'm wrong. This is how I'm going to flash TP-LINK TL-WR741ND ver:2.4

Follow http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Installation#Method_1:_Flashing_with_Web_GUI using factory-to-ddwrt.bin.

So what is the use of tl-wr741nd-webflash.bin ?

The second one is if you already have DD-WRT and newer version is released and you want to upgrade to it.

This is perfect! Cheap TP-Link TL-WR741ND v2.4 turned into DD-WRT router...
Just followed instructions on http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Installation#Method_1:_Flashing_with_Web_GUI

and used factory-to-ddwrt.bin from http://www.dd-wrt.com/site/support/router-database

Can't get over how easy that was...
