We need more info. Post settings and what you have done already.

Try WPA2 AES w/o no N speed.

The dd-wrt database shows firmware available for various versions of this model, however I'm seeing a number of posts that complain about settings not being preserved. Apparently there is an issue with a version of the router having a specific Intel chip. Is there a way to figure this out without opening the case of the router?

Also... I haven't seen anyone mention experiences with the dd-wrt firmware installed. Is it a notable improvement over the previous software? I had been using my WR941ND v.3 for about 1.5 years when I started having some problems with it. Basically, the router periodically drops connections. This tends to happen mostly under certain weather conditions: extreme heat, extreme cold, or heavy rain. Otherwise, it is a good router and can penetrate about 3 floors to provide a reasonable connection. I'm just wondering if the dd-wrt firmware will manage the hardware better and provide more reliable performance.

Thanks for any advice!

Hello DD-WRT fans and devs,
(1).I started to have problems with my TL-941ND - it randomly looses connection / more when there is a higher load /, seems like the DNS is stopping to work and even if i set it manually on the pc it still don't work, but i can ping ip's from the diagnostic tab of the router. I re-flashed it with stock a few times, but it does not fix it. As i can not afford right now to buy a new router i was thinking that i can save it somehow with DD-WRT, but mine is v3.2. Do you guys have any idea what can i do? Thank you.

(2).It's like 3 years now from the Intel S33 flash problem and as far as i understand OpenWRT can flash it, is there a fixed version for TL-941ND v3.2?

Hey brothers!

I have one EOC-2610 in AP mode. I want to expand it's signal with one TL-WR941ND (atheros radio).

The TL-WR941ND was set as Client Bridge (routed) as the follow:

image uploading

image host

It work fine, BUT when I add a Virtual Interface to host news connections like this...

hosting images

...the radio isn't broadcasting the Virtual SSID, and I can't ping the EOC-2610, even though the Wireless's status showing the TL-WR941ND connected to the EOC-2610.

Firmware: DD-WRT v24-sp2 (11/21/10) std
BUILD 15778
Router Model TP-Link TL-WR941ND v2/v3

I need help.

Tanks a lot!

It is still not confirmed that it is due to flash mfgr, it seems that none of the v3.2 owners are interested in providing a serial log so I will not bother any more trying to help them.
My v2 is working well so I don't have any problems..

There is probably none of them who has tried to update the software to Brainslayers latest build in order to see if flash can be written.

I have the TP-Link TL-WR941ND Ver 3.2 with Intel flash. After bricking it with the v24 preSP2 [beta] Build:15778 I flashed the original TP-Link image successfully via the Nokia CA-42 usb to serial cable.

So I can provide a boot log from the internal serial port. Smile (see attachments)

You did everything right so far, but the TFTP-post you mentioned was missing to set an IP-address after booting the openwrt initramfs image, before executing the wget. The IP you set after uboot is not handed-over to the later booted openwrt. So you have to set an IP-Address once again with: ip addr add 192.168.1.10/24 dev eth0
Now you can go on with cd and wget ....

Hope that helps you to unbrick your 941 Wink

Good luck

Connection refused has nothing to do with the UImage file, it is your server not allowing a connect.

The wget command is for transferring a file from a http server and I don't think your ftp server honours wget requests.

Your uimage is the same I used, because I recovered my 941 with the same instructions than you. Wink

Here the sha1sum of my 'openwrt-ar71xx-generic-tl-wr941nd-v3-initramfs-uImage.bin': 71bf518d1d2724bce3a463172f150a6757cc1a7a
or md5sum: b59ff82e80edcdcbe2e9c882fb4c187d

Here the commands I used:

setenv serverip 192.168.1.12; setenv ipaddr 192.168.1.250
tftp 0xa0800000 openwrt.bin; bootm 0xa0800000
<Enter>
ip addr add 192.168.1.250/24 dev eth0
cd tmp
wget http://192.168.1.12/941.bin
mtd write 941.bin firmware

<unplug power>
<replug power>
browser --> http://192.168.1.1

Hope that helps .... Smile

LOM, does the serial log from the default TP-Link image or the other serial log from the openwrt help you to make dd-wrt working on the Intel flash based TL-WR941ND Ver 3.2 ?

I'm not working on it, I'm not developing dd-wrt. Wink
The problem is that dd-wrt needs a complete overhaul of the SPI flash driver, the serial log is not needed.

I don't understand why you even try to write the file, don't you read the error message?

You need to have a http server running which can serve the wget request.
