It could be possible. For example, before I had a Dlink 524 and the first time I bought it I had tons of trouble with its wireless (of course). Fortunately Dlink released a new firmware which covered those problems and transformed it into a very stable router which served me well for a long time. That's why I am hoping that someone would release a decent firmware for it.
I would also be very happy if a release for DIR-615 rev H1 will be published.
Me too, I have some kind of a limitation on the upload speed it's about 750kbps. Without this router(DIR-615/H1) the speed is ~ 15Mbps. Download is Ok, I think it is a FW related problem...

Also i have real problems with rev H1 of dir-615 !!
I have another dir-615 rev D3 with ddwrt drivers and is working just fine!! but rev H1 is crashing 2..3 times a day!
I've just bought a dir-615/H1 too and I would like to use it as a wireless repeater, which mean I need the DD-WWRT firmware to do it ...
I Thought it was OK, but I didn't check the revision Number before buying the router...
