Hi all,

I'm trying to setup a PPTP VPN and having some DNS issues.

Router Model Linksys WRT54G/GL/GS
Firmware Version DD-WRT v24-sp2 (08/07/10) mega - build 14896

The VPN is connecting ok, I am able to ping the LAN ip's over the VPN (ie I can ping 192.168.1.1) and also can access the web interface via LAN IP when connected over the VPN. So VPN connection appears to be working ok.
The problem I am facing is, when connected over the VPN it doesn't seem to resolve LAN hostnames.
Eg. I have a NAS on 192.168.1.10 setup as a static DHCP client. When local to the LAN this resolves no problems, when connected via the VPN it doesn't resolve the hostname.
Checking the VPN connection status and it has the DNS server as 192.168.1.1.

Please see attached screen shots of setup.

I have enabled local DNS
I have tried to setup local DNS IP
I have tried setting the DNS IP on the VPN setup

Any advise would be great!

Thanks for your reply.
I've been unable to find the wiki entry you referring to, are you able to link me to this?

Also I managed to track down, if I add a dot . at the end of the hostname when connected via PPTP, it resolves the name, however if I try connect to a network share \\example. it says that it cannot access the path, via ip address over the PPTP link it works no problem.
