I am seeing a number of Broadcom cards on Ebay and am curios to know what benifits i would see if i changed to a Broadcom mini wifi card?

Note: the Intel card is doing just fine, but i can pick up a Braodcom card pretty cheap i think.

I have an Intel Pro Wireless 2915 ABG card in my Inspiron and it rocks. I had the factory Dell POS in there and replaced it with an Atheros. I didn't like the Atheros, so it's gathering dust in favor of the Intel. I get consistent 54MBPS out of it, and great range. It'll crank all the way up to 70mW which is plenty!!

I made the poor decision to get a Broadcom based card (Dell 1490) with my laptop. I never could get decent performance out of it under Linux. (Windows speed and stability was okay though.)

I finally bought a intel 3945, works great in Windows, works great in Linux. Intel has made a great card and released open source drivers. I wish I'd known earlier!

Software that comes with the card lets you adjust several parameters......output power being one.
